Whatever anyone feels about Walcott's abilities as footballer, I can't believe that there are people genuinely putting forward an argument that we should sell him in January for around £8m and pay in excess of double that for another promising kid from the Championship
Big money signings come around once in a blue moon at our place, so think about it. Do we want to spend that type of money on a mid-20s international player like Cazorla who can make an instant impact, or some lad from Palace that has had a promising year knocking over the likes of Watford. To be honest when I've seen him - not too often admittedly - he looks what he is, talented but very raw. I've probably got more Palace supporting friends than any other team and there's not one of them that think he's a £20m footballer. Have a think about that number again. £4m less than we supposedly received for the finest striker in the PL for a bloke who has looked OK for 18 months in the second tier of English football
It has been reported that Walcott's transfer fee to Soton was compromised at a total of £9.1 in 2008. Usually Arsenal look to sell players at a big profit. Would we really be able to get much more than that for him in January? Or risk losing him on a free in the summer?
I suspect a deal to resign the player on higher terms may be reached, enabling Arsenal to then sell him at a higher price in the near future as he would have a longer contract that would increase his transfer value.
Have to admit, Feo has impressed me big time the last few games. He was exceptional today. His all round game was superb. If you look at his work in the build up of Santi's goal, it is something I never thought he had in him. He seems to have developed a composure and calmness in possession, and an awareness of his team-mates positions and making the right pass at the right time. He participates in our attacking moves now and is actually becoming more creative, whilst retaining his great finishing ability.
I think he's finally coming good and starting to fulfill his potential. Just our luck then he's pissing off soon.
He is frustrating and he is inconsistent but if we let him go this January then it'd be scandalous. I'm not saying it'll be in the same league as letting Cesc or van Persie go but it'll just send out yet another negative message to the rest in the squad and another kick in the bollocks for fans. We have to sort this out and again today I thought he showed that he is an important member of the squad
Definitely not Theo's biggest fan but he is playing well & I have to think that keeping him would be a far better choice than selling him & replacing with another unknown, unproven "talent"

Exactly. Today was exactly the kind of game (important, dubious opposing LB, high line) where you expect him to perform and to his credit he did well. Still annoying and not a £100k/w player by any stretch but I can't say I'd be happy for him to go now that he's found a bit of form, consistency and most importantly composure.
I dont know that he's worth the money to keep him but he is an asset, at least at this point. Besides, I'm tired of selling players while they are on the upswing to pick up no name "talent" for the hopes of "in 2 years time we'll have the perfect squad."
We have the money in the bank, pay him now and move on from this nonsense.

Perfectly valid point. Tbf the players are also willing to accept being on the same sorts of wages as the likes of Almunia, Djourou and co but I think a high-profile wage hike for Feo would rightly put some noses out of joint.
He's not worth £100k/w, end of. Wenger should sit him down and tell him he can stay here and play regularly as a wing forward and occasionally a striker for a handsome £75k/w for 5 years or give him the option of fucking off to Liverpool to give up on his footballing career and live in a dump. If he takes the later option then I don't want him to stay anyway.
Well the contract negotiations are not as simple as have been reported, of that we can be fairly sure.
As a club we take ages to get these things done; it so often develops into a "saga".
But if it does take 100K a week to keep him, and I am really not convinced that is the figure we need to keep him, then pay it!

Ridiculous...we would need Ox to produce consistency he has yet to show, and Gnabry to take a huge leap in class on a regular basis, and Gervinho to deliver consistency he has never shown.
Did anyone else get the impression from his interview on MOTD that he is definately leaving?
when asked about links to another club (liverpool) he didnt attempt to deny it.
Not his biggest fan (as everyone seems to say) but i think we are a much better team with him in the side....maybe because of the lack of quality replacements, but i think we will be a lot worse off without him
