THE WENGER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Anyone care to shatter my illusion ?

I was in the clock end lower, block 25 towards the back. :D
Somewhere in front of us and over to the left, maybe as far over as block 26 a small band, (they will know who they are) , possibly into double figures, started the chant. :cussing: Didnt go on for long, a few people around us just looked at each other and started some much better chants of which there was plenty the whole match.

We hardly heard the spuds even with our close proximity.

:barscarf:
Only time I heard the Spuds aside from the goal was a bunch who came out of Arsenal Station and started chanting "**** Army!" as well as a few by the store who tried to antagonise some of our support. Their support was indeed fucking shit.

No snootiness involved mate the reserve team credit card cup is not a trophy of note and we've never won that thing either

personally I'd be pleased with any trophy just to get the "7 years and counting" monkey off our back
although I suppose it would just be changed to 9 years then a decade without winning the title...

Love to win the LC purely because we've gone so long without winning anything but in the grander scheme of things it's hardly a satisfactory position to be in.

Why havent we won it for a while then? Its because Wenger doesn't take it seriously. For this reason its borderline a trophy of note (re. my earlier post)

The FA cup is still one of the most recognised trophies in the world and known by many from TV as the first competition they recall be aware of. The beauty of the FA cup has, in many ways, been marred by the money driven/broadcasting football world in which we live but every year it throws up the suprises, the drama and the spectacle many have come to love.

I believe that we can win somethign under Arsen's guidance and I find it amusing that, with a chance, again, to progress deep into the league cup, folk already dismiss it as not worth having. Of course it's worth having. (I would like to have put 'fact' after that last short sentance as so many do who say something they believe demonstrates beyond argument that their view is correct. Because you believe strongly in one particular argument does not make your view right; FACT) ;)

It is not that my glasses have a rose tint, rather those who gainsay the wonder that is wenger have grey shaded spectacles , and grey shaders need to aquire some insight into their own condition.

Steve I don't think anybody thinks it's not worth having. Just that we shouldn't be delighted with winning it, after all it's a trophy Wenger has neglected throughout his entire reign and it speaks volumes that at our lowest point under him we're now being confronted with the reality of winning the LC or fuck all. I'd fucking love to win something and that includes the LC but that still won't have any real impact on whether or not I think we're heading in the right direction.
