Apologies to Mods if there is already something along these lines.
Having just seen this (Walcott Lowers his wage demands etc and Arsenal increase their offer to him)
http://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/2896/pre ... igning-new
I was told by my postie - he's a manure fanm that they have a Wage Structure in place - where the Senior / Established players are on a pre=agreed level..(£180k - £220k per week)...and there is a sliding scale from that down to the new incoming players - regardless of age etc, they all know what they will be on at the various stages of their career with the mancscum.
But the Arsenal players all have individual contracts, so some are on the top level - some lower etc.
So whilst Feo is asking for £90k a week ) it was £100k, players like Santi Carlzola (our best player) is and would be on quite a bit less. So surely a similar wage structure to the manscum - ie: a sliding scale would sort all this shyte out, and save us from losing players under similar circumstances to how Flamoney left..!?

I suspect your postie knows as much about Manure's wage structure as I do.

maybe he intercepts their pay packets, steams them open and checks how much each player is on before re-sealing them and posting them on as if nothing has happenedGranadaJoe wrote:I suspect your postie knows as much about Manure's wage structure as I do.

Re: Arsenal Players Wage Structure
I never take the press stated wage figures as absolute fact.
I would prefer lower wages and higher performance based bonuses at Arsenal.
Also try an arrangement where basic wages increase in each year of the contract as a further incentive.
Lessen the problem of under performing players on high wages that makes it hard to sell them on.
That said, I would not want to lose any more players over the club being reluctant to pay the going rate, as it just damages our squad.
So my wages would be respectful and bonuses would be very generous, but I would not pay the likes of Squillacchi 60 grand per week (if that is what he is really on, we do not know for sure).
Think any of us can surmise that Walcott's negotiations are not just about wages, but about image rights percentages and bonuses and so on.

Re: Arsenal Players Wage Structure
I'm hesitant to rely too much on exact figures quoted in the press for individual players but the accounts show that we pay not that much less than United in total, particularly given they pay out some trophy-related bonuses just about every year.
Without pretending to know the intimate goings on at OT, it's common knowledge that players like RvP and Rooney earn somewhere in the region of £200k/w plus, and it's not a massive leap to suggest that they have other key players that are therefore earning well over £100k/w. Whereas we don't. However, this shortfall has to be made up somewhere, and it's young/squad players. United seemingly have a policy of paying their youngsters modestly in relative terms. It means you might lose somebody with an attitude problem like Morrison, or perhaps not be able to keep hold of a promising player like Pogba, but ultimately players there aren't rewarded handsomely until they've actually proved themselves in the first team. Hence Welbeck (allegedly) agreeing a huge contract rise after being on a low wage for most of last season.
Their policy is based on acquiring necessary quality i.e. having a squad of 20 players strong enough to compete for trophies, with any young players coming through the ranks a bonus. Our policy is based on spreading ourselves thin and overinvesting in youth. You don't need a squad of 30 players earning a competitive wage, which is probably what we have (especially when you consider that we are apparently still footing a considerable amount of Nicky B and Denny's wages).
It's not really necessary to have a strict 'wage structure' at all, just a policy of not rewarding players with lucrative long-term contracts on the basis of performances at youth/reserve level or a few decent games.
Quartz - tbh it doesn't make a huge difference for me because it's still about money.
