Early Leavers

Early Leavers

Post by goonermc »

For anyone who didn't get a copy of the gooner on saturday there was a great suggestion on the letters page from a Rich Lindsay to try and combat early leavers who are letting the club down. The idea is for the club to only let these spuds out before the final whistle if they swipe their membership cards as they leave, then the information collected would be used in the allocation of Cup final tickets and other big games. Absolutely brilliant idea!!.

that aint never gonna happen

you know that part of the deal in buyig a club level season ticket guarentees you a cup final ticket, pile of pony if you ask me

20,000 cup final tickets , 9,000 to club level season ticket holders, that leaves 11,000 between 45,000

club level...

Post by gooner.ed »

believe it or not, the club level season ticket does not guarantee cup final tickets. the corporate boxes - yes. so that's 2,000 out of the equation, but not the 7,000 club level platinum members.

i think the club will decide on something like two thirds of the avaialble tickets being allocated in the same was as Paris - on away credits, and the remainder will go into a ballot.

Having said that. can anyone actually see us making a Cup final this season? The odds are long... :(

I really don't understand why people near me in block 2 wanted to leave early on Saturday.

1. It was an early kick-off so therefore everyone has an extra couple of hours to get home or wherever they want to go.

2. We are on the verge of beating Spurs yes that is right Spurs our North London rivals 3-0 which is the biggest scoreline against them for a while.

I myself stayed and watched the players celebrate together and applaud the fans (which made a change). So I'm sorry to all those who had to barge past me in a hurry :D

Good post. I do wonder why some people bother to turn up for the big matches especially when their priority seems to be leaving early so they can catch the train/bus before everyone else.

Why can't they just pass the ticket on to someone whose more interested in watching the whole game?

Had to laugh though when one guy bolted past me during the game on his way down to get a pie and missed the first goal!

Do what I do make them feel ashamed to be leaving!
shout out something on the lines of " even my niece can watch a game of football for the full duration and she's 5!"
Or "where was you when mickey thomas scored?" (half way down the m1 I suspect)
"90 minutes in a game"
The people I hate the most are the half timers the pie's most taste very nice at Arsenal! and have you noticed the people who leave early never take there seats until 5 minutes into a game!!!

Post by donaldo »

early leavers

Post by Gooner_mojo »

This is starting to become a joke, how emberassing is it having people leave early in previous games, but in the derby when we're 3-0 up!!!!!!

After the poor run of results, i thought beating spurs 3-0 would've kept everyone in till the end and cheer the boys off the pitch. But no, people would rather catch the early train than salute their team after a wonderful derby win!

Even worse it was a 12.45 kick off!! What's the rush to get home at 2.30??? I just don't understand - it's a saturday afternoon, x factor aint on till after 6, why can't these people just stay to the end and show their appreciation for the lads effort.

That membership swipe thing is a wicked idea, that'll teach 'em!!!

End of rant.

The programme does state that the screens in the concorse will NOT be on now at the end of the match. This means that noone will be moving downstairs to get a beer and watch on the screen whilst drinking.

I know of some people that would do that at highbury leave to actually watch the match (if on TV of course) in the pub.

From time to time with evening kick-offs you can accept that some people have no option but to leave 'a little' early, particularly if travelling some distance. But on a Sturday afternoon with a 12.45 kick-off?? Please, do me a favour. And what true Gooner in his right mind would voluntarily cut short such a fine opportunity to taunt and mock the laughable Yidos??

During the Newcastle game recently a family of 4 stood up and left with over 10 minutes to go. The guy next to me stood up and gave them a full verbal volley along the lines of "F*ck off and don't bother coming back. Let people who really want to supoort this club have tickets. We don't want C*nts like you sitting with us". I'm not ashamed to admit I joined in with him as did the bloke behind me. As much as letting the 'tourist family' know what we thought of them, I hope it go the point across to everyone else in ear shot, particularly those considering an early departure. I don't advocate causing aggravation amongst fans or creating a hostile atmosphere, but these people are really starting to piss me off.

You would'nt happen to sit in block 8 would you? That early leaving pie eater sounds like a guy that sits a few seats away from a mate of mine. Mate says that this bloke along with 3 others are always going downstairs for food, drink or to just generally get away from watching the game!
