Re: New Commercial Deals TBA Tommorow
So some of the money is being paid up front and Gazidis said it's for additional money for Wenger in the summer so what is happening with the 70 odd mill we got in the bank ? .

" Arsene Wenger's having a party "

Re: New Commercial Deals TBA Tommorow
I should imagine it'll go towards paying for a leaving do for Walcott and Sagna.swimmer1 wrote:So some of the money is being paid up front and Gazidis said it's for additional money for Wenger in the summer so what is happening with the 70 odd mill we got in the bank ? .

Hard to say if it is a good or bad deal because we don't know what other offers where on the table.
But £30M a year is equivalent to what we earned from property sales for the last few years. With that property income as good as disappearing after one last bundle of £20M still to come in (barring a few small deals), this naming rights deal does not necessarily mean extra spending on players.

Quartz, mate – not one penny of it will go on players, I think we all know that in our heart of hearts....

Re: New Commercial Deals TBA Tommorow
There is no money out there for stadium sponsorship at the minute. Barcodes are prostituting themselves all over the city trying to get a deal and Liverpool are much the same.
As well as that like it or loathe it the Emirates name has stuck in peoples minds, maybe not some of us older supporters but the vast majority of the football public will say that Arsenal play at the Emirates.
Therefore there is even less incentive for a corporate sponsor to come in and take the naming rights from Emirates as it will take a lot of effort to shift the perceptions of the public.
If we say therefore that the naming rights is a minimal part of the deal, the actual shirt sponsorship is the second highest paid to a club in this country. We are not going to compete with the global brand of Manure, however we have exceeded Liverpools 20m a season, who again like it or not are a far bigger 'brand' globally than us.
I'm not saying its the perfect deal in many ways but surely its a step forward?
If the Adidas deal is on the cards then that will be another step forward as well, maybe just maybe the commercial team are starting to produce the goods?

And as I have said a million times before, the offers on the table would be substantially better if we were successful on the pitch again - nobody wants to be associated with losers and that is what we have become

Come on now, augie - would you not throw millions at a club that "participates" in the CL every year? Doesn't win it, mind - but "participates". Every year.augie wrote:QuartzGooner wrote:Hard to say if it is a good or bad deal because we don't know what other offers where on the table.

Re: New Commercial Deals TBA Tommorow
Probably fair points. Out of interest though, how much would you guesstimate the naming rights would be worth per year? At the very least it's an issue that needs some clarification so the deal can be judged in its proper context. Even if the the naming rights were "only" worth say £10m a year, over the course of a seven year (?) extension that would still make a substantial dent into the £150m "shirt sponsorhip deal" as it's being promoted. The club's statement made the naming rights aspect sound like a mere incidental footnote. "As part of the deal Arsenal's home will continue to be known as Emirates Stadium up to 2028" is all they seem to have said on it. Still smells a bit of Gazidis spin tbh.alanalansunderland wrote:There is no money out there for stadium sponsorship at the minute. I agree some clarification would be good but feel thats unlikely to happen.
My own view is that the namimg rights wouldn't be anywhere near 10m a season, why pay for something thats already established.

1) why renew a deal now that isn't due to expire for another 9 years? The going rate for naming rights in 2021 may be a great deal more favourable – cant get much worse by the sound of it.
2) If we cant even get any decent money for it cant we just sack the stadium deal off at the end of the contract and call it something proper?

Exactly, why is there is need to extend a deal so that it now doesnt expire for another 16 years thats madness! Its Up 4 Grabs Now wrote:Hmm, furry muff.alanalansunderland wrote:I agree some clarification would be good but feel thats unlikely to happen.

And if the value is likely to be so low it begs the questions...
