As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.
Well at least he can have the 14 shirt back when Walnut joins the victims!
Sorry, but I don't hold TH14 in the same high esteem as most. An incredibleplayer but he has an ego the size of the moon. He actually thinks we are lucky to have him as a fellow Arsenal 'fan'!
Statues, annual ego-massaing returns and Wenger speaking of him constantly like a favourite child.
Surprised so many have voted no. I'd love him to come back even if he didn't play, just being around training would be good for the squad IMO. Was good to seehim and Sol at the NLD, they were sat right above me!

That has to be the most stupid comment I've read since reds been banned.
Why? He has an arrogance about him that I do not like! That is my personal opinion of him. A great player in his time yes but someone who I would regard as a role model, no!
He makes out he is Arsenal through and through but he was very quick to fuck off when the heat was on him in London after his goody-goody image was shattered due to him fucking around.
Very easy being an Arsenal fan when you can turn up when you like, sit in the best seats and be pampered.
Sorry, I just don't buy all this Arsenal is in my heart shit from him. He milks the adulation and that's that!
All great players have arrogance about them. Some hide it more than others but it's there. Not like he's a huge *word censored* like Ronaldo with consistent ridiculous comments or anything and although he was more than handsomely remunerated could have forced a move away long before 2007 when he was past his best.
Recently watched a YouTube video of his 25 best goals and fuck me he always showed how much he loved the club in his celebrations (or so it seemed to me), in the years since we've fucking missed that from mercenaries and players who couldn't give two shits about the club.
He was a phenomenal player and his goals will always be remembered. He gave us some incredible moments as a player.
However, if he is such an Arsenal fan, and considering his already enormous wealth, do you think he would play for Arsenal for free in the same way all of us would?
Quite simply one of the best players of his generation, and in the top few Arsenal all-time greats. An arrogant twat perhaps (gallic temprement?) but I'd kill to have a player on the books now with even a quarter of his talent.
Past his best so not sure about another loan but this bloke is involved in some of my fondest Arsenal memories.

To a certain extent I agree with you about his arrogance, but trust me the guys got Arsenal in his blood just like the rest of us. Remember his farewell interview? He was nearly in tears leaving. I respect your opinion but imo he did this club a wonderful service and I will forever be greatfull for the goals and skill he brought to our club.

He would when Wenger gives half his wages to charity and Diaby and Rosicky give the back millions they have taken from the club while being always fucking injured.

Thanks for agreeing with me.
So not so stupid after all?
Like I said, as a player he was sensational in the main but I just don't agree with the 'fan' part! Anyone can claim that. If a lesser player declares himself a fan then nobody gives a fuck. I just do not believe there is any equation regarding what you done for a club as a highly paid professional and what you do for a club as a genuine supporter.
Would we care if Franis Jeffers declared himself a Gooner?

That's a ridiculous argument to make mate. If you were still considered to be good enough to help Arsenal and were earning big money elsewhere you wouldn't play for free and see people like Rosicky and Diaby strolling round the training ground, doing fuck all until they pick up their next pay packet. Plus he's under contract at NY Red Bulls who Arsenal obviously have to pay his wages to, so it wouldn't just be symbolically playing for free it would be paying Arsenal to play for them.
You said he fucked off when the heat was on or whatever but fact is he gave us his best years. And they were fucking phenomenal. Might have won the CL at Barca but by 2006/07 he was struggling to stay fit and not able to perform at the same level as a few years previously, he hardly fucked off and left us in the lurch.
People wouldn't give a fuck if Jeffers declared himself a Gooner, just as nobody would give a fuck if you or I declared ourself to be a Gooner. I don't see your point. Jeffers' and Henry's stints at Arsenal aren't really comparable on any level.
Fair enough if you don't agree with the universal adulation of him amongst Gooners, it's your opinion to hold and a bold one at that but hardly seems reasoned when it's backed up arguing things like he should pay us to play for him.

How in the name of christ can you be surprised ? The guy is 35 years old ffs and playing in what is virtually a semi pro league for old veterans (like himself) and young americans plus a sprinkling of mexicans so it isnt exactly the best preperation to play in a competitive league like ours. You want him to train with the club ? It may have escaped your notice but he has been training with us for a week now anyway so we dont need to sign him to have his presence on the training ground. Personally I am disgusted, embarassed and more than a little angry that a club of our supposed stature and our fans would actually consider and support the re-signing of henry and it highlights yet again the cheap make do policy that is rotting our club away
Btw the comments about him fcuking off to barca still hold true and the memories of the previous season "will he wont he" saga havent been forgotten too

Exactly my feelings Augie as to why I voted no.
Loved TH for what he produced while he was here in his prime, bringing him back (again) would only be a stop gap, pr exercise.
Sign a player that has a future with us, not one who is firmly in the past.

Just to make my feelings clear, I don't want Henry back as a stop gap, we do desperatley need cover up front and I want Wenker to go out and buy a decent striker. But as our all time top goalscorer I would love to see Henry in an Arsenal shirt again. You ask why I'm surprised augie, well we all had some great memories of Henry at Arsenal and I simply want to add to those, I can't let go of the past!!
