Remember that Santa thing well ; his parachute got tangled on the roof of the Trinty Road stand, and he fell to the ground with a sickening thud ; I believe he lost a leg in the accident, but married one of the nurses who helped him back on his foot after a long time in hospital.

Start of second half delayed as he was treated pitchside, so I have forever held him responsible for us not winning the league that year, as we lost it by a point.

Ever since then, I have shouted abuse at anyone dressed as Santa

Best Villa Park memory for me is definitely Pires scoring that absolutely class goal by mugging off the defender and lobbing Schmeichel. Worst memory, take your pick from United 99 or 04. 99 was devastating to lose it in the way we did with DB10's penalty and THAT goal but 04 was sickening as well because we missed a hatful of chances in the first 10 mins and although the Invincibles will always be football legends we should have won everything that year.

The Woodcock day was great, incidentally Ian Rush scored 5 for Liverpool the same day. The Santa one was a sickener, 2-0 up against Villa at half time, Villa were suppose to be title Challengers and I thought that was the end of them at half time. John Gregory was their manager then I think , he was an arrogant self important man. I remember earlier that season when Villa broke their own record for consecutive wins he had a team photo taken on the pitch after the game. The media were full of Villa after that game, but by the end of the season when they came to Highbury for the last game they were nothing. We beat them with a Kanu goal but of course Spuds didn't do us a favour at Old Trafford.
Although I have a vague memory of Merse having a chance near the end for Villa and not exactly giving it 100%

AS for tomorrow...I'm confident, but like many I always am away to them

Best memory of Villa Park, was beating them 2-0 i think, mid 80s in the Milk Cup.

Charlie Nicholas scored, huge following up there, mid-week game.

Great night

Seeing as this thread is also taking trips down memory lane....My favorite memory was a game on New Years Eve, we drove up in my mates XR2, we won 3v0 I think, but the best bit was when their goalie cleared it straight out to Rocky who controlled it on his thigh and lobbed it back over the goalies head into the net from about 35 yards out.....we were so high on the win we drove back to Hertfordshire in about an hour so we could get out and party!

Btw....we'll win 3v1 tomorrow

Was it mountfield (ex toffee) who tried to get back to clear it off the line and got tangled up in the net ?

Not sure about that but Mountfield did score against us the following season along with Platt who had become the flavour of the month with the media at that time. Platt had gone on a scoring spree and the media demanded his inclusion in the England squad. Funny story from the time was that there was a FA disciplinary hearing held at Villa Park (possibly us and Norwich after that brawl) .When it ended Platt happened to be in the Villa Park foyer, one of the FA big-wigs saw him and asked "are you my taxi driver ?" So much for being the flavour of the month.
Not sure of the stats but I reckon this is a fixture that is kinder to the away team.

Yeah, like some clueless twat off The Krypton Factor assault course. I remember laughing about that for weeks after.

How many minutes will pass before we get to hear "Have yow won the European Cup". Definitely within the first five minutes, again if we take the lead at any point until they eventually give up and end up with the all time classic "yer gonna win fuck all"

Never liked their fans - bunch of tossers

being a mid-table club that can't even finish mid table and that can't fill their pretty modest ground will take it's toll on you
