THE WENGER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

The old adage that the fan pays his money and is entitled to his opinion seems to no longer count. Now it's the fan pays through the nose and should be grateful for the privilege. Your club is your passion, often a birthright passed from father to son, your club is your identity , your badge . If the managers and the media lose sight of that what is left ?. The 21st century of polite applause ?. They want your money, they want you to buy their merchandise, but they don't want to hear you grumble. If Arsenal FC continue in this way what do they believe will happen ? Are we to sit quietly and accept seeing last season's heroes kissing the badge of another club this season. ? Arsenal supporters want what is best for Arsenal and so they (we) want the best out of Arsenal. If the club continue to alienate our opinion by dismissing our concerns..well you know what, remember that plane load of Chinese fans Arsene yearned for in the Summer...he may well need them.

Neil Lennon on Sky at the moment...saying if Celtic fans voice their displeasure then that has to be taken into account, he continued to say that fans are entitled to complain but he is entitled to answer them. Fair point...what our manager and chairman has done recently is dismiss them. Just imagine if Arsene had gone to the away section after Saturday and got involved in a "discussion" with the fans. Very unlikely but at least you could say he has passion and belief. Instead he questions everyone's right to question him.

"English players give more stability as they are more likely to stay longer" ....no problem with Theo's contract then. from today's press conference.

I thought he himself had taken us away from being a big club. After all didn't a certain person who has worked in football for 30 years once declare that you can not call yourself a 'big club' and sell Fabregas and Nasri ?

Without expecting any return...........really, he's doing it for free now is he.

£7.5m that's some no return.
I read it in the Standard tonight, and honestly that comment is more cringeworthy than anything he said directly after the Villa game. "Without expecting any return" - ok then pal that's easily fixed....do it for nothing then. My hero honestly - poor old Arsene, soldiering on without two ha'pennies to rub together and as honest as the day is long. My heart bleeds

Please don't spend it, Arsene, just keep hoarding that cash so Moyes can bring over Fellaini and Baines and go out and get Goetze, Lopez and a proper keeper. Llorente/Lewandowski, too.

He will spunk this money on some c*nt from Ligue 1, mark my words.

Guardian - AW saying 'boo boys' must be 'realistic'....

...given the money spent.

which would be a good point. but he was the one who spent the wages on song, diaby, bentdner, denilson etc etc.

he did say that the new commercial deal will stop us "losing" players though. which is nice.

Realistic?  Yet he's the guy that comes out every season (including this one up until last week) and says how he thinks we can challenge for the league and how this is his strongest squad ever!! :banghead: :banghead:

It's sad to say this but any reasonable person must surely realise that Wenger is now nothing but an illusionist who will make up any excuse - regardless of how unfeasible or incompatible it is with the truth - to defend his position (and hefty salary). In fact he speaks so much nonsense that he can't even remember from one day to the other what he actually says anymore!!

So 4 years into this thread and little has changed ,many like Augie have gone from sane individuals to raving lunatics whilst some have just hardened their views,we all know there's problems at the club but the WOB have still to make a real move .
Live too far away ,got kids, mums ill, jobs on the line, dont want to get banned, dont want to get beaten up these are just some of the hackneyed excuses people trot out to excuse their own in-action.
If you spent as much time organising and protesting about getting Wenger out as you have done dripping poison from the pen you might have an effective outfit for demanding change ,instead all u have is a forum that devotes more and more threads to anti wengerism for those to vent their spleen ,but whose contributors lack the courage to anything more than moan on the internet !
For some I'm sure it has a cathartic effect having a little clique of like minded people and I can understand but after 4 years isn't it time to put up or shut up ?
