Re: not McDowell's Transfer rumour thread
Still makes me sick that Rosicky got a 2-year deal but Pires was shifted out in the same circumstances. Refuse to believe that Rosicky in May 2012 had done more to earn one and more importantly to suggest that he had enough to offer Arsenal in the future than Pires in 2006.

Pires one of my all time favourite players, and I did feel he deserved a two year deal,northbank123 wrote:Still makes me sick that Rosicky got a 2-year deal but Pires was shifted out in the same circumstances. BUT
The rolling one year deal offered to Pires was good enough for Bergkamp.
Pires could have stayed, he chose to leave.

Re: not McDowell's Transfer rumour thread
Worst thing was after insulting Pires with a one year, Wenger then gave the Mid Op Trannie Sylvester a two year!

Valid point but it's a side issue really. The fact is he wanted two, and we wouldn't give it to him because:QuartzGooner wrote:Pires one of my all time favourite players, and I did feel he deserved a two year deal,northbank123 wrote:Still makes me sick that Rosicky got a 2-year deal but Pires was shifted out in the same circumstances. (a) Wenger had a policy of not offering older players more than a year, and
(b) Wenger obviously felt that he didn't have enough to offer to warrant breaking this policy.
A few years later, this 'policy' is broken for Silvestre, one of the worst signings we've ever made. And then Rosicky, who has given us probably two good spells in about 6 years, is offered 2 years. How can Wenger justify these players as more deserving than Robert Pires. Ignoring the fact he's an Invincible and a legend, he still had plenty to offer the team. Rosicky is decent when he gets some fitness but this is extremely rare, Silvestre was just a fucking donkey.
You're right, Pires could have stayed but I'm just saying compare his treatment to others since and it's embarrassing

1. Stay with the German double winners and back-to-back title winners topping a CL Group with Madrid, City and Ajax
2. Join Man United to pair up with our former captain and world class striker competing for titles and CL's
3. Join the Virtual Trophy winners 2006-2012, take a pay cut in the process, be handed the rotational captaincy for a year before pissing off somewhere better anyway
Take your time now Mario.....

Re: not McDowell's Transfer rumour thread
Schalke are not expecting a bid from Arsenal for Klaas-Jan Huntelaar in January, as they claim the Gunners do not have the money.
Arsenal signed forwards Olivier Giroud and Lukas Podolski in the summer, with Theo Walcott another attacking option, but they have been linked with a number of strikers - Netherlands international Huntelaar among them.
Reports have suggested Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has a substantial transfer kitty available to him and he has said he is looking for "top, top players". That assertion is at odds with the information Schakle have at their disposal.
"There have been no offers or any sign of Klaas-Jan leaving," Schalke general manager Horst Heldt is quoted as saying in the Sun.
"If someone comes to us six months before the expiry date, and has a lot of money, we will deal with it.
"But from Arsenal circles we hear there is no money anyway."

Looks like that £40m will be Silent Stans dividend then

Arsenal and Manchester United have been alerted after it was revealed that Borussia Dortmund midfielder Mario Gotze has a release clause of £30million.p206ab wrote:Gotze is back, Sammy must be so happy![]()

According to The Daily Express, Matri is a cheaper option for the Gunners, whose primary target is Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, and the Juve striker could leave in January unlike the Dutchman.DB10_TH14 wrote:http://forzaitalianfootball.com/2012/11 ... swap-deal/
