As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.
Just looking at unlikely eventualities but what if the other game ends in a draw but we still finish second cos we're only playing kids, and then inevitably we draw Barca in the next round......

Then it means we avoid the hassle of potentially getting to the quarters and losing meekly there. Two fewer games to distract our jaded superstars from their glorious two-pronged assault on the Capital One Cup and the Virtual Trophy.

Wenger will talking up our "spirit" and "mental strength" if we win tonight
I remember 2 years ago, straight after we'd lost the Carling cup final vs Birmingham, we beat Leyton Orient 5-0, and Wenger was saying how the win "showed our mental strength" ... we then followed that result with 1 win in our next 9 games - mental strength my arse! Orient were just shit!
if the groups stayed the way they was atm then i think i wud take our chances finishing second fair enough we could come across barca but basically at some point if u wanna win the trophy you gotta beat the best. either way finishing first or second its gonna be a tough match

exactly my point though as expected the loss does come tonight its not gonna further my need for wanting change, saturday is a whole different matter though
Don't really care about finishing second. We're nowhere near good enough to win it and haven't beaten a top team in knockout since 2006 really.
I'd just as soon have the chance to play a new or exciting team like Madrid or Dortmund (again) then have the monotony of struggling against an average team in the last 16 and either crashing out or getting dicked in the last 8 by Barcawhores.
Couldnt give a shit cos we are never going to win it,unless you are a superfan from islington and you get to go away as a daytripper to exotic locations thts as good as winning it To think we will sacrifice the FA cup/league cup for the CL is a fucking joke 13 CL in a row and 1 final and 1 semi-final appearance is pathetic.

a "virtual trophy" for getting their every season though agree with what your saying though our only hope is the avoid anyone half decent and even then we could still manage to fuck it up

Yes. Yes, they will.
Nope, tonight means fuck all - win or lose.
Yes, but you are what most of us would consider an intelligent AKB, mate. It's the other ones, the sheep...
haha, well i still respect Wenger - but how he picks Forehead ahead of Arshavin, Chamakh, Eisfield etc....i cant back him up there!
It may be time for change soon, but it wont happen mid-season, so all we can really do is get behind the team and hope for the best, im clinging on to the fact it was a similar situation last season and no other team is really setting the world alight at the moment.......Saturday is huge now (West Brom at home, and you wouldnt put your nuts on it would ya?)
STILL no start for Arshavin, im shocked by this - he has looked lively when he has come on, deserves a few games to pick up some form. Obviously out the door.
