Our Dear Leader

on the game…
We had a good first half. We dropped physically in the second half because many players lack competition at that level and therefore we couldn’t take the chances for the second goal.

on Olympiacos’ first goal…
We also got a very bad decision against us on the goal. Wojciech was far away from the ball.

I don’t want to make a fuss of it but it’s difficult to concede a corner when it doesn’t go off the goalkeeper. But we have to take it on the chin and go home and focus on our next game.

on Tomas Rosicky…
He has not played for six months and we were cautious with him. We decided before the game to play for 45 minutes and see how he got on. He’s a bit tight, muscular, but no injury. We’ll see how we recovers now for Saturday.

on the young players…
I feel you discover the young players in these kind of competitions [and games like the one] we had tonight. They have the quality. If everybody is fit we have a strong squad but in certain areas, of course when you have players like Diaby and Rosicky not fit, we are a bit short because we cannot rotate. We’ll see where we stand on January 1 and see what we do.

on the draw…
We need a good Christmas present now [in the draw]. We’ll see. The disadvantage we have is we play the second game away, but it’s not statistically proven it’s a disadvantage. The important thing now is to focus on the Premier League and forget about the Champions League. [We need to] get ourselves back in decent form in the Premier League.

on Kostas Mitroglou…
Mitroglou scored two great goals. The first one in London was a great header and tonight was a fantastic goal as well, I must say. I won’t say more because if I do you’ll think I want to buy him. He scores goals but I would not want to damage the confidence of Giroud who is in a good moment and we have other quality internal options such as Gervinho and Chamakh.

What an arrogant condascending b******d.
He said after the mpelier game how would field a strong side and try to win the group, changes his mind and gets it all wrong again, it seems every decision he makes these days, he gets it wrong.
The last few years of his tenure and what I now believe are the last few months, are like "waiting" on a terminallly ill old relative,, who you don't really like. You just want it to be over so the burden they have become on your life can be lifted, see them off then go and get fucking pissed then return to normal everyday life.

"We have a strong squad, but in certain areas we are a bit short because we cannot rotate."

He cannot rotate because the squad isn't strong enough !

I think he meant;

"We have a strong squad, but in certain areas we are a bit short because we cannot rotate. This is because there were players available, but the players wanted were those players not the players available. With those players available the squad is strong, but not strong with available players that are not available. When we look at the available players we cannot rotate as the players available are not available."

It still is amazing that most media on TV will say he needs to change his policy on transfers but he is still the man for the job. Dixon said it last night as well as cutting his career pre Abramovich and after.
Mind you Dixon was not saying we should get rid of him just tweak our financial policy.
Wenger will now become the stubborn dictator and not sure if he will leave anytime soon. He has it easy at Arsenal he only has to make money and not bother about winning things

I think one of the worst elements of Arsene Wenger’s tenure from 2007 – 2013 is that he has gradually taken “hope” out of the equation for us the supporters. Even during the darkest days of the 70’s and 80’s (and mid 90’s) I always felt there was hope; hope for change, for success, for a manager to see what was wrong and do his best to address it, or hope that the Board would have the moral courage (almost Wengerish there!) to ensure the manager did his job or suffer the consequences.

Now I have no hope. I watch each Arsenal game with a sense of dull dread and a terrible feeling of inevitability. It’s just the same old same old almost every game.

Poor defending? Check.
Chaos and ineptitude at set pieces (both defending and attacking)? Check.
Pointless tippy tappy passes in and around the halway line? Check.
70% possession, no penetration or real goal threat? Check.
Ramsey (the new Song) caught in possession? Check.
Silly goalkeeping howler due to keeper’s unearned arrogance? Check.
Feo Feo hampering down the line and “forgetting” the ball? Check.
Shit “strikers” like Chamakh and Forehead missing sitters? Check.
Diaby/Rosicky make "big return" then get injured within a couple games/minutes of return? Check.
Wenger doing Clouseau impression on sideline? Check.
Wenger ranting at the 4th official? Check.
Gibbs/Sagna failing to get a cross over the first defender every single fucking time? Check.
Oppo defenders/midfield compressing the space and nullifying Cazorla/Wilshere/Ox? Check.
Wenger not changing tactics to counter oppo tactics? Check.
Wenger making ludicrous comments in post match interview? Check.

I’ve never felt so... resigned. This shit has been dragging on for years now, and will drag on for years to come. :(
