Re: Gervinho....
It's true, he did have better end product stats than Hazard in France. Alas, after seeing him with mine own eyes I'd rather have Glenn Helder playing for us.
He has poorer decision making than someone in a coma. An awful, dreadful player.

Re: Gervinho....
I love the line "newspapers suggested the fee was £10m" on the official AFC website. It might be club policy to announce it as undisclosed but they obviously know how much it really is, so the fact they've reported £10m means it was obviously higher!I Hate Hleb wrote:I've had a little joke at the expense of mikeyb and FrenchGun but the person really taking the piss was this bloke...

What a cockhole wenger really is

Re: Gervinho....
I think the fact that I am genuinely looking forward to the African Nations Cup just so that we don't have to see this sorry excuse of a footballer for a while says it all.
Come on the Elephants - all the way to the final please and then make sure the brainless wonder loses his passport while he's out there

He's so fucking shit it's almost like trading standards should prevent him from being known as a footballer.

Fair enough. He didn't turn out as planned...

For my defense, he doesn't seem to be the same player than the one who played for Lille. His last season at Lille, he trully was one of the top performers in Ligue 1. He was voted by journalists and pro's in the team of the season. But since he joined... Dear dear...
IHH: Thank god you're not starting to take a look at the Giroud thread...

Fair play to FrenchGun, Arshavin was also a coveted player before he joined us.

To be honnest, even though they're probably not good enough for Arsenal or to challenge for major trophies, I think the Gervinho's, Giroud's, Poldi's, Artetas's, Kos or Vermalen... and almost most of the team are not as bad as they show right now. It's quite clear the team's confidence is shot to pieces right now. The level of the PL is very poor this year. And even thought there's no doubt we're certainly not at the level to compete with Man U or City for the title, I think this team is better than what it shows right now.
As you mentioned, I think Arshavin is another example of this. When you compare his first six months with us and the player he is today... As I believe a player who hasn't got any footballing brain (Ramsey?) can never gain one with time, I can't believe a player can lose his intelligence and creativity with time.
Overall I think mismanagement makes our players look awfull at the moment, but I don't think they're individually as bad as some make them out to be on here.

Re: Gervinho....
+1. A little creativity on the training ground and with tactics and we'd get a lot more value out of these players. As I've said in other posts, teams like Everton, Newcastle, and other perennial 6th-10th place teams would be over the moon with the selection options we have. We just manage to barely utilize any of these extremely talented players.FrenchGun wrote:QuartzGooner wrote:Fair play to FrenchGun, Arshavin was also a coveted player before he joined us.

(I feel like busting our asses old-school with some set piece work, ala Sam Allardyce, would really galvanize the team if they converted using that same play during a game. Break the mould a little. Just a thought.)
If you're on the fringes with AW you'll never play, simple as that. AA23 has shown some good form in his rare appearances this season but he is continually stuck behind guys like Ramsey who haven't been up to snuff. Chamakh, JYP, lots of other examples of players who just completely lost the desire to play under Wenger. JYP had a pretty similar goal scoring record to Giroud prior to coming over to Arsenal!
Re: Gervinho....
For almost 7 years every supporter, commentators and anyone who watches football In this country or abroad has known arsenal needed a spine going through the middle of the team, a commanding defender, powerful and strong. And mobile, a bit like kompany, we got instead matsaker, we knew we needed a holding midfielder who can let the creative midfielders around Do they thing, instead of getting one we sold the one true holding midfielder, attack breaker for no other reason but money to barca, Alex song, and only dipping into the only into the French market for strikers as to say they only come from that part of the world is crazy,
