I hope we sign no-one, as I simply don't trust Professor Farnsworth to spend it wisely.

Whatever we have in the 'war chest' should be saved for the next incumbent, which will probably be in 2069.

Arsenal are believed to have revived their interest in Montpellier captain and defender Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa, 23, following the French side's elimination from the Champions League.

Played really well against us in both games, once in defence and once in midfield if I remember correctly, and looked quite good in each position.

Give it a few months after signing for us and Wenger will have destroyed him.

January transfer window should be about replacing a long term injuried player, or adding a little extra to push it up further. Why do I get the feeling we're all looking at this transfer window in hope for a Messiah that could save us? The purchases we're looking at should've been made this summer... Very unprofessionnal, but not really surprising anymore...

Arsenal intend to launch a formal bid for Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha, 20, with Arsene Wenger determined to add to his attacking options during the January transfer window .
Full story: Daily Telegraph

The club are making a HUGE mistake in my opinion if they blow the majority of the cash on this bloke. More stepovers than Glenn Helder - a real showpony. He'll be perfect for when we're dicking Sheffield United in the Capital One, but fuck all use to us for 4 years at least in the PL or CL

Wenger spending £18m or so on one player is becoming a scarier thought by the day

John Cross has really outdone himself this morning, linking Arsenal with Zaha, Pepe Reina, Huntelaar, Demba Ba, Strootman, Mbiwa and Henry - all in the same article!

http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/ ... se-1476746

Arsene Wenger is confident of winning the race to sign Crystal Palace wonderkid Wilfried Zaha.

Gunners boss Wenger’s scouts have been watching Zaha for weeks and the 20-year-old forward is keen on a move to the Emirates.

Arsenal have put together a package in excess of £7million, and are hopeful it will persuade Palace to sell the England international - even though boss Ian Holloway is adamant Zaha will stay at the Championship club.

Wenger has cash to spend and is likely to dip into the market, with a keeper, a centre-forward and midfielder also on his agenda for next month and the summer.

Arsenal are keen on long-term target Pepe Reina, with Liverpool understood to be ready to cash in on their first-choice keeper, despite Anfield boss Brendan Rodgers insisting the Spaniard has a future at the club.

Reina’s staggering £110,000-a-week contract is likely to be a major issue but it is believed current Arsenal first choice Wojciech Szczesny is aware Arsenal are in the market for a new face at his position.

Arsenal’s chief scout Steve Rowley has been scouting Schalke’s Klaas-Jan Huntelaar for weeks and the Dutch striker could be available for £6m, as he is out of contract at the end of the season.

Newcastle also fear a move for Demba Ba, who has a £7m buy-out clause, next month while Arsenal have also watched PSV Eindhoven midfielder Kevin Strootman.

They are also in the market for a right-back as Bacary Sagna is set to go next summer, as revealed by MirrorFootball.

Arsenal tried to sign Montpellier defender Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa last summer and still rate him highly.

Wenger also has a loan deal for Thierry Henry lined up as he hopes to make it a busy January with fans keen for new signings.

But it remains to be seen whether Wenger is prepared to spend big to rejuvenate his squad in January and next summer.

A natural born winger - who no doubt if signed would be played through the middle - a winger signed by a whinger!

John Cross? A poor man's Patrick Barclay - just a less literate Paddy Barclay

The only player we'll buy from that list is Zaha

Zaha is an outstanding talent and an Arsenal fan to boot (check his Twitter). If we sign him I'll be absolutely chuffed.

Let's say we get Zaha and Huntelaar, that would be a satisfying transfer window for us, for a change.

Add in a new manager to put the icing on the cake!

Moderately satisfying providing that we add at least one of either a decent back-up keeper (does anyone really want to see Mannone or Flapper at the business end of the season or throwing away cups?) and holding midfielder to give Arteta a break.....and hold on to Walcott and Sagna

If we sell either of those two, it will be another shit window

Don't care about Walnut (clearly playing for a contract) but Sagna leaving is going to hurt.
