Re: Goodbye Sagna
Sums it up really, the most biased journalism out there.
When criticism is levelled at Wenger, he ignores a huge pay packet and the huge money we pay players and says despite zero trophies
When people baulk at how we're treating one of our very few class players, suddenly it's crucial that we've won nothing and obviously they're ungrateful and spoiled.
The bloke is worth more than £60k a week in modern PL football, end of. When you consider what we pay far worse players, that point is reinforced. And to suggest he's only worthy of a one-year deal is fucking ludicrous regardless of what we're paying him. Fucking pisstake.

Re: Goodbye Sagna
How comes the French geriatric that was Silvestre gets 2 years,
The narrow eyed wanker that is Rosicky gets 2 years
Pires gets offered a 1 year and Sagna also gets a one year (even though not 30 yet)

Sagna will attract a transfer fee...simple as that. thefranksav63 wrote:How comes the French geriatric that was Silvestre gets 2 years,

Better than Lauren?!brazilianGOONER wrote:i hope this is as credible as the newspaper itself.
if true, it's unbelievable management. sagna is a top athlete, no doubt he has at least 3-4 years of top football to play.
he's a brilliant footballer, only player of the invisibles i would ever start for the invincibles.

There is a difference though, if the story about Sagna is as reported.DB10GOONER wrote:The fact that he broke his own policy for shit like Tweety Bird, after basically insulting The Dennis and Pires (2 absolute legends and 2 absolute winners) is a disgrace that I have never forgiven Wenger for.donaldo wrote:N1Goon wrote:This is Wenger's policy, the 1 year for 30 year olds, not the boards.
He did this to Dennis, DENNIS BERGKAMP!
And Robert Pires. ROBERT PIRES!
But Silvestre got 2 years
Bergkamp was offered, and took, a rolling one year deal.
Pires rejected it.
Arsenal would always have first refusal to extend the contract.
I have no problem with that type of deal whatsoever for players who are in their thirties, though personally would offer it to players over 33 rather than 30.
But it seems that Sagna is just being offered a one year extension.

Re: Goodbye Sagna
Even taking our ridiculous past decisions out of the equation, and the current state of our squad also, for any club to refuse to offer a full-back of his quality more than 1 year on what is, let's be fair, modest money by today's standards for a top player is a joke. Looking at the deals we've offered Rosicky, Squillaci and Silvestre in particular just make it stick in the craw even more, and the fact that he is our best defender and arguably our best player says it all about us atm.
Re: Goodbye Sagna
AW this morning
Wenger on Sagna: 'I don't understand the speculation. He has one and a half years on his contract and we are in positive negotiations'

And no team that sells Cesc and Nasri can be called a big club.Take everything Wenger says with a huge pinch of salt

"positive negotiations"...Chippy wrote:AW this morning

He said (again) today that we're going to build around a British core of players. That clearly includes Jenkinson, so I don't expect Arsenal to fight hard to keep Sagna, and I reckon he'll almost certainly be gone in the summer despite these illusionary "positive negotiations" Wenger speaks of...

Re: Goodbye Sagna
Tbh , I think he crocked and best days behind him, the worry for me would be Wenger will hand the role full time to Jenko with no decent cover.

Dont agree with your assesment sid but even if I did agree it hardly ties in with the policy that seen rosicky handed a 2 year deal just a few months ago
