Heres a few chosen responses to the above article that shows the AKBs still seem to have the prevailing opinionnorthbank123 wrote:Sycophantic nonsense like this from writers who hold themselves out to be fantastic journalists is ridiculous.

Something which people always miss when bleating on about net transfer spend is how Wenger has been able to profit from player sales from his previous successes. Compare us with Spurs, look at the relative state of the squads in 2005/06 seen as this is generally accepted where Wenger started to decline.
They're now broadly on a par with us, no questions really. We spend 50% more on wages than them and there's been a huge disparity for that entire time. Our net spend since that time is lower BUT everybody in the media ignores the fact that Spurs had no assets to sell and fund future spending whereas Wenger's net spend may not be much over that period but he was able to realise £125m+ in player sales of Vieira, Henry, Cole, Toure, van Persie, Fabregas and Adebayor in comparison to Spurs getting pittance in comparison from assets from that squad. Add to that their managerial chopping and changing and it shows the true extent to which Wenger is 'overperforming'. Tbh you could do the same with any club but Spurs lend themselves best to the comparison.
I believe Arsene Wenger is the best thing that has happened to Arsenal! If it were not for him I could seriously see them be very very close to going down - I mean WAY down! Everyone one talks about the profits that have been made - yes wonderful!! but where does these profits go?? I am sure more into the pockets of the board and owners than where it should be going which is on top top players. Wenger is under a lot of pressure, the team is under a lot of pressure and the fans at the games who boo them should be ashamed of themselves!! They need support not booing!! They need to know that we are the fans of ARSENAL FOOTBALL CLUB and we stand behind our manager and players!! Booing them and yelling obscenities or whatever is only going to do the opposite of what the fans want!! They need to hear you yelling theirs names yelling you can do it guys and all kinds of positive things. Otherwise we are just demoralizing them stripping away their confidence saying to them that you are losers instead of saying you are winners. Being a fan is, to me anyway, supporting manager - the best in the world - and team through thick and thin, they are my club and I will back them 100% because I believe in them and IN WENGER I TRUST. By the way Oliver it was a FANTASTIC read and i love you to death for being a genuine solid gold supporter of Arense and Arsenal bless you
Wenger is the best manager Arsenal could have and I think he is the best in the world. Anybody thinks that if he had money to spend he would not spend it? Does he like to loose? Or, doesn´t he like to win the doubles or win trophies every year? He is a winner! If he could he would have the best players in the world! To blame Wenger is really unfair! No other manager could afford to take his team to Champions League for 16 years consecutive. Arsenal have some players that don´t have the quality to play for them. But Wenger don't have the money to sign better players. It's easy to Man. City, Real Madrid, Barcelona or some other clubs managers, because they sign the players they want. And even signing the players they want and spending the money they want they can't afford to lead their teams to the Champions League every year, or pass to the Champions League Knock-out stages. Wenger deserves more than a statue in front of Emirates Stadium.
Thats what we are up against here folks

I don't think these people are the sort that actually attend games though, it's like they haven't been paying attention to Arsenal since 2005. Seriously, I know people who will before wenger we were a small club. They also ask me who we've got on the weekend

'Football is about more than splashing out’
By Rob Kelly
Arsène Wenger believes that success in football is about more than merely “splashing out” on big-money signings.
The Arsenal manager has been criticised for not matching the likes of Manchester City and Chelsea in the pursuit of high-profile players.
But the Frenchman insists that the English game is founded on more important principles than simply opening a cheque book.
“I have big respect for the passion about the game in England,” Wenger said. “But football is more than just splashing out. It's much deeper, much bigger than that.
“It's about sweat, thinking, working hard. You have a big tradition of that in England. I believe the pride of this country historically is built on that. It's what makes this football strong and interesting

Re: Arsene Wenger - For/Against/Indifferent?
Seriously, does anyone really need any more proof that Wenger will NOT buy the players required to make Arsenal a good team again?
He does things his way, he is a dictator. He said he does not buy 'stars' he makes them. He has ZERO interest in buying the players necessary to make Arsenal FC great again. He will continue to buy second rate Frenchmen and very very average players, pay them 50k+ a week and have them all revere him. The guy is a cancer.

Stop fretting lads. I have it on very good authority that in January we are going to be extremely busy in one of the two transfer markets

Just in case we didn't realise it already check out the sixth paragraph of the article
You can understand the manager being bullish. He admitted Arsenal were second-best against Swansea on Saturday and that their home form needs improvement but they are still only five points off fourth place (the initial aim of the season) with those 23 games to go. Last season, before the comeback against Spurs on February 26, they were famously 10 points adrift with only 14 matches remaining.
No fucking shit eh ?
