I want him out more than anything Sid but still reckon we will nick 4th. Spurs imploded last year and they're a far worse team this year, they're as bad as we are. Everton lack strength in depth and will have a huge blip at some point, particularly if they get a few injuries.

It's in no way beyond the realms of possibility that we'll finish top 4. Look how fucking shit West Brom were Saturday and they've been flying for most of the season. At the end of the day there are only 3 real competitors for 4th and we're one of them.

I still think we will Sid but because the teams around us are as abject as we are. Lets say the top 3 are taken even though the chavs are up and down at the moment but it means we are competing with liverpool, west brom, everton, sp*rs, swansea and west ham maybe, all of those teams are average at best and could easily go on a run of 4 wins or 4 losses at any time against any opponent. I really think we will come 4th and yet again Wenger will be thought of as a miracle worker for getting us there :banghead:

It’s a good and timely question, Sid. I still think we will finish top 4 tbh. And for the same reasons;

The PL is not as great and as competitive (at the top end) as Slysports try to convince us all. We will get top 4 in spite of Wenger NOT because of him, but mostly because the majority of teams in the PL are average to poor. We will battle it out with the Scum, Everton and the Mousers again and possibly the Chavs, given their poor form and managerial problems. But I think the top three will be Citeh, Manure and probably the Chavs - with either Citeh or Manure winning it.

We have enough in this team on its day to get top 4 without any manager at the helm at all (!) in such a weak PL, but with Wenger it’ll be a struggle, but I think we’ll get it. We’ll be 20 points off the winners but we’ll get that 4th slot by default.

We have alot of poor players but we have just about enough good players to do ok, not win the PL, but do ok. The main problem for me is we don't have a manager that can manage properly, using tactics and a strategy that fits the players we have. A decent modern thinking pragmatic manager would possibly get this group of players to 3rd this season (given the chaos at the Chavs) and such a new manager with 3 or 4 key signings might have us competing for the title...

So for me it's 4th by default... whoopee-do, huh? :|

I still think that without rvps goal we can't turn it around this time. Wenger continuing with Gervinho and the very ordinary Giroud will see us fail.
There are more challengers for this spot than there were last year, I think the chavs will get 3rd comfortably enough in the end, that will leave ourselves, the spuds, everton the mousers and maybe a dark horse like swansea going for that 4th spot, On current form we are the outsiders, that leaves us needing all the others to fuck up, not just the spuds like last season, add to this we have the worst manager of the lot, 4th I just can't see it.

Why exactly are we 'outsiders' though Sid? We've been dog turd so far this year and are realistically teh most likely to strengthen in Jan, even if not significantly. We're only two points off 4th atm and I don't see anyone other than us Spurs or Everton lasting the pace. Plus, the gap between CL football and champions last year was 19 points. This year there's another team in between that, and far more teams around the 6th place mark. There's already a 13 point gap between 4th and top after 16 games so realistically it's likely to be considerably more than last year's 19 point gap. Basically it'll be a lower points total required to get 4th this year because there is no one team amongst the competitors head and shoulders above the rest.

That's not a vindication of Wenger in any way because frankly we shouldn't be competing with SPurs and Everton the wages we're paying, by as DB10 says most of the league is cack.

I know goal.com is a load of crap but we can live in hope .

Goal.com claim a source close to Pep Guardiola has told them that the Spaniard would like to manage Arsenal next year. He said 'The club are aware he would be interested in the job in 2013. Guardiola doesn't want to go to Chelsea. He is worried about the lack of stability. He also has a good relationship with Wenger dating back to when he started doing his coaching badges at Arsenal.' Interesting.

Wonder if they're feeling "a little bit jaded".
