Wenger DOESN'T Know

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

The problem is none of us expected (and that probably includes Wenger) the team would be 5 points ahead (oh why didn't Clichy just clear that fookin ball at Brum?!) a month ago and so he didn't strengthen last summer cos he wanted to give this group another year and it's always difficult to buy class in January and unfortunately the team's hit a wall for whatever reason and he can't change a lot.
I'm as fooked off as Professor Fook at the University of Fookness but let's wait until he's got some money to spend in August and see what happens.
KEEP THE FAITH BOYS!!
Well said - a long way to go in both comps and it will feel better tomorrow, just.... probably wont stampede for MOTD2 though....

whoever replaces AW, should ideally be chosen by AW....

First off, fair play to Bring Back Pires for voicing a clearly very controversial opinion and standing his ground on it in a coherent manner.

Second of all, all of those people who are suggesting that various people should maybe be banned from here or those who are calling Bring Back Pires stupid or telling him to fuck off; you’re a complete disgrace. From the sounds of it, he pays his money like the rest of us to see his team, and thus, he is just as entitled to his opinion as you are. If you’re reading this and this sentence applies to you, you really need to grow up. You clearly don’t have the kind of disposition for internet forums.
Here here. The people of have called BBP studpid and suggested banning him have missed the point of these forums. If everyone agreed with the thread this would be boring!!!

I don't think anyone has seriously suggested he should be banned or not allowed to voice his opinion.
But if you're going to start a thread like this, on an Arsenal forum, you need to expect quite a backlash and ALOT of debate.
Plus I get the impression that it's a kneejerk reaction to a bad result.

Mr Saunders, a great post sir! I do however think that he will splash the cash in the summer because he knows like we all do that with more experience in the team, games like the one at Birmingham would have been sewn up, we're 8 pts clear and would probably still be 3-5 pts at least clear tonight. He knows that we are short of a keeper, centre-half, winger and possibly world class centre forward and whilst he can maybe be accused of being stubborn he's not stupid and will regret not buying last summer and will hopefully learn from his 'mistake'.
Today was so deflating because the reality was we never really looked like scoring did we? As usual, dominated posession at times, but Adebayor is shagged, RVP needs at least 5 games to get match fit and we never looked sharp up front. Is that Wenger's fault we're so short up front which has proved so costly in the last 5 games? Perhaps, but like I said before, he probably didn't expect us to be top of the league so wanted to give the 'youngsters' another year and then top it up with experience after that. It hurts like mad, I'm totally gutted but like you say, let's not kick him out just yet eh?!!

As far as I can see there is no knee jerk
reaction, fact of the matter is NO TROPHIES
FOR 4 YEARS......END OF ARGUMENT!!
If it were anyone else at the helm you would
all be baying for blood at this precise moment.
From what I've seen in the Premiership over the last 10
years only one manager is untouchable and on the
number of trophies won I'm sorry to say it 'aint ours!

At the begining of this thread the times that we should
have won the title and various other cups was highlighted,
the fact that we didn't must surely fall on the shoulders
of the man in charge.
I feel as though we've bizzarely turned into some sort
of "Harlem Globetrotters" of the premiership, providing
skill and entertaiment but not acctually winning anything
of importance other than the odd pre season tournament.

such a massive thread havent read all comments all the way through, but Wenger Has To Go?.....fuck off. If you believe that, you havent played and dont know football!!!!!
I agree:
our form is poor
our squad dosent have enough depth
we need to buy

BUT:

every one is taking the easy targets:

The Manager - I wont even amuse those of you who think Wenger should go - YOU DONT HAVE A CLUE!!!

The Physios - "It's their fault we get lots of injuries" - How old are our player + the amount of games they play at such a young age = injury.

The Players -
Hleb....WAKE UP! this guy is a great player, he gets more stick because he has the ball more than any of our players in the game...this leads to more mistakes, BUT more opportunity. Not only that but he works his arse off...FACT

Senderos....Name one center back that plays the amount of games he does that is as good? When called upon he does the job...everyone makes mistakes but he is so young and needs encouragment not stick.

Van Persie/Rosicky...."sell em cos their injury prone"....both class acts! but as ive mentioned above too much too young(no pun intended) = injury. BUT class is class. Pires had a bad injury record didnt change his game, the problem is(as mentioned above) not enough stength in depth not these individuals.

Wenger is a God who I hope retires at Arsenal. He has made mistakes...who dosent? I am an optimist who believes under Arsene we have many happy years to come!

COME ON YOU GUNNERS!!!

One Arsene Wenger, Theres Only One Arsene Wenger,
One Arsene Wenger, Theres Only One Arsene Wenger,
One Arsene Wenger, Theres Only One Arsene Wenger,
One Arsene Wenger, Theres Only One Arsene Wenger,
One Arsene Wenger, Theres Only One Arsene Wenger,

Pires was only sort of mistake.

Post by QuartzGooner »

Wenger has only made one mistake with letting the named players go, all of them Arsenal legends.
Wenger is no fool. He has detailed stats showing mileage covered and pass accuracy per season, and detailed medical reports. He knows when a player is on the way uot.

HENRY was clearly losing pace, getting injuries, and not supportive enough of younger players, and we got good money for him.

BERGKAMP was 37, and no longer had the legs to last a game. His contribution became too inconsistent to justify a place after the 2006 season.

VIEIRA was starting to decline. Losing pace, picking up injuries and started to lack motivation. He has since admitted he was feeling pace of Premier League and prefers the more stop start game in Italy. We got good money for him.

PIRES is the one mistake. Though he was losing his decent pace, his game never really depended on it as his main attribute. It was more his speed of though and accurate passing that made him the superb player he still is. I do not think he could play more than 25 games a year in England, especially with his wiry anatomyy, but he would be very useful for sub appearances versus the big teams, and in Champions League.

In Wenger's favour though, if the club does indeed have a policy of only offering one year deals to players over 30, then Pires cannot be blamed for wanting the security of a two or three year deal.

Just to say that I agree with BPP on absolutely everything.

Yesterday was yet another example of Mr Wengers tactical naivety (12 yrs into a job!!!)...Diaby 4 Sagna??? Eboue on right back??? Why oh why he didn't bring in Senderos and move Toure to right back I'll never know...and to give such post-match talk is a sign of someone who's seriously deluded and doesn't want to face reality...AND AW will absolutely NOT spend in the summer, I think that deep down we all know that...

And I think it's emotional people on this forum who have blind faith in Arsene Wenger, not the other way round...

And Robert Pires is absolutely best player AW ever signed! Fact! At least 50% of what TH14 did was down to RP7...

And 4 the name of our next manager...I've seen the future and it's name is Slaven Bilic :!:
