This thread is really weird how it keeps bringing up certain events and banners from 2009, using that as a stick to beat other fans with ; Are we unable to accept that people can change their opinion over time?

Every single person on this forum supported Wenger at a certain point, whether that changed in 2006 , 2009, 2012 or whenever, so you need to get over the fact that others changed at different times.

I wonder if other club online forums dispaly such an encyclopaedic knowledge of exactly which banners were displayed when, or who wore what T shirt?

Still waiting to hear what the reasons were behind the Hate Usmanov stuff. You haven't offered any explanation on here that I can find.

But can you not just argue that for many the situation is now 'LOVE ARSENAL ; HATE WENGER', so things just change gradually over time?

What is the argument there? 'You loved him back in 2004, but now you want him sacked'? Surely the same thing with Usmanov and how the ownership issue has evolved since that day?

There is a difference between the Wenger and Usmanov banners.

People one by one have lost faith in Wenger at various stages because he as a person and as a manager has changed, and his performances have changed. Fine. The press may say that's fickle but what they won't acknowledge is that people have seen the signs going back to 2008. He has changed, therefore so have people's views on him.

That Usmanov banner was foolish and embarrassing in itself, there was never any justification for the petty name-calling and being manipulated into acting like that based on misinformation. He hasn't changed, it's just people realised that they acted like idiots.

And I still dont think that people have changed their opinions of him tbh - people who are easily brainwashed (as they were at that time) generally dont change their opinions back too easily and still believe what they have been told. I will bet my life that if there was a straw poll held tomorrow, 95% of Gooners would still not want usmanov involved - the problem for these people though is that they can already see that kroenke isnt the answer so do they stick with what is clearly not working or do they opt for change in the hope that things can change for the better ? If they spend even 5 seconds thinking about it then clearly they are not fans of the club and if they opt to stick with kroenke then it is time for a long spell in the nuthouse

To be fair, I think for the majority of fans, it feels like we're between a rock and a hard place.

I'd imagine FAR more than 5% of real fans are tired and disillusioned with Kroenke and the board (surely? ) but equally, I doubt many are ready to offer their nailed on full support for Usmanov because we just don't have the information to make an informed decision on our cuddly Uzbeki saviour.

That said, given the choice, I'd take the Usmanov option all day long. No doubt media "experts" will trot out the usual superficial "be careful what you wish for... " bollocks, without actually offering any real insight or doing any research, but I've got zero confidence in Silent Stan, so instead of sticking with this groundhog day reality we're in, I'd be willing to twist and hope Usmanov doesn't land us with the joker card.

However back in the real world where Kroenke is going nowhere and neither is Gazidis or Wenger, I guess I'm left hoping and praying they're right, and that in 2014 - with the new sponsors in place - we're able to kick on.... (yeah, yeah, I know )
