I invested £10 of my Christmas vouchers on "St. Georges Day."on Blue Ray from Asda. I know! I should have known better, but maybe the Seasons alcohol was playing its part!!!
Trust me,it's just a group of middle aged "mockneys" being paid loads for acting out their Gangster/Hooligan fantasies with their mates!!! Sound familiar,(Football Factory,Rise of the Footsoldier).
"I.D.",and "The Firm" are possibly the only two of this genre that are any good.....unless you know better!!!

Not as bad as I feared either but not an 8/10 for me. The casting of Cruise is still all wrong although at least he is a decent enough actor.storrmin571 wrote:http://www.comingsoon.net/gallery/49171 ... her_29.jpg
8/10 not as bad as i feared
As a big fan of the books (There's only two that I'm yet to read) there were still a fair few things other then Tom Cruise's height that did not sit right. The fight scenes were just too hollywood for my liking, in the books child describes them in great detail but in real time the fights are short (as is realistic of most real life fights involving trained killers). I'd have slowed the action down and tried to give a better idea of what is going on rather then just presenting hollywood fight scene #284754729484.
The best bit in One Shot (the book the film is based on) was when he follows and hunts the bad guys through the city on foot. For some reason they did away with this and replaced it with a car chase that went nowhere, just because hollywood thinks there has to be a car chase.
And finally the whole putting down the rifle so he could have a fist fight instead was so out of character it was laughable.
But you're right, it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be and if it makes money the first time around (I haven't seen any figures for its box office) they might be able to add a bit more imagination into the next one to hopefully distinguish it from your generic hollywood action movie.
6/10
