THE WENGER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Arsene Wenger hails Wigan Athletic's scouting system ahead of Arsenal's trip to the DW Stadium on Saturday.

"Wigan always have good players, technically talented players and they're scouting countries where nobody else goes," says Wenger.

"They have an intelligent idea - they say 'if we go to France or Germany, we face Arsenal and Manchester City, so let's go to countries where nobody goes'.

1) Why aren't we going to new areas given that the well has clearly run dry where we're digging?
2) LOL at them being worried about facing competition to piss money away on Gervinho and Park.
Just out of interest, what countries "where nobody goes" are Wigan scouting? :?

Easter Island? Pitcairn? - I'm genuinely interested!
"Oman, Barbados, Chile and Paraguay. In the development squad they even have a Somalian." from pravda.com
Except they have to feed the Somalian for 6 months before he can run properly... Unless he's the president's son or something...

On the twelfth day of Christmas and Arsene set to leave:
12 hairs on Bould's head,
11 pansies playing,
10 bottles flying,
9 useless wingers,
8 more players leaving,
7 years of nothing,
6 I didn't see it's...
FIIIVE HOOOME WIIIIINS!!
4 departing captains,
3 more excuses,
2 Ramsey passes,
and a constantly injured Diaby!

Arsene says we need to stay "level-headed" despite the fact that “I always said the group was very good mentally and that would come out in the end"

Yep, we beat West Brom and Wigan on penalties and steamrolled the Reading machine......keep your feet on the ground lads, we're going places

Great article on the front of the Gooner website. It starts with politics but read through that to get to good analysis of the delusions of the AKB. http://www.onlinegooner.com/article.php ... ve&id=2842

A good piss take of the night before xmas - wenger style. (nsfw or played in front of elderly relatives)

It would appear that Wenker is now as much a figure of scorn and piss taking as he used to be revered and loved, which is somewhat sad but understandable.

That's bloody brilliant, but you could have put a NSFW on it. I just avoided playing it in front of my mother in law!

I read this somewhere:

[quote]
I get the feeling that his main motivation for signing up those 5 young British players was so that when he does call it a day, he can take credit for laying the foundations for the next manager. He wants to leave a lasting legacy although he's already done that by helping to facilitate the stadium move and all the trophies pre-2005.[\quote]

http://www.onlinearsenal.com/showthread ... post929757 (post#99)

And to be honest it really wouldn't surprise me if this was the case. Wenger is egotistical so it wouldn't be beyond the realms for him to try and stake a claim in the future of Arsenal should be leave anytime soon. "I err made sure zat Arsenal 'ad an Englizh backbone before I left"
