Hey Magic and the rest of the blind optimists, at least our season ran to end March this year. That's great fucking progress eh?

Are you even aware we're in the quarter finals of the Champions League?

Better than last season, but not the heights of 2002 and 2004.

I believe our back four to be sound enough and our mid field pair are top class but we need real quality in wide areas and a world class pressence up front. We have too many squad players and not enough real match winners that can come off the bench.
Completely agree, green, that's what we need to add to the squad.

Of course I'm aware we're in CL.

To get past Liverpool we have to significantly raise our game to the level seen against AC.

Question is though, if we do manage that, are these lads big-game charlies who can't be arsed about Boro/Wigan/Brum/Villa, OT in the FA Cup? Why couldn't they raise their game for those? Are they only capable of going up a gear in the competitions which turn them on?

Liverpool are there for the taking. A good side at best who never deserved to win the European Cup a few years ago.
I agree we need to play well to beat them, especially in Europe because they always seem to grind out results and get the rub of the green in that competition.

I don't think dropping points against inferior teams has much to do with anyone being a Big Game Charlie. I think the passion is there for all to see.
And on the plus side, atleast we know we have a team who can perform in the biggest games, which is quite different to when Henry was here and he used to just sulk about on his own during much of the real big games.

I think that is a real possibility and problem. Maybe you did not see the wigan game or read Gallas' article after that game. I was in milan and saw one of if not the best Arsenal performance in europe. We were fighting for every ball. Then 5 days later against wigan the palyers were a real disapontment. Gallas even admited the players found it hard to be motivated foir the 'smaller' games.

Or maybe were are just lacking form, either way we will need the performances against liverpool to get through...
