WALCOTT - which position is best etc?
Re: Walcott - contract talks/which position is best etc?
Feo proving that he can be a quality striker. What an idiot Wenger is for wasting him out on the wing all these years.

Like him or not hes our top scorer and it would be just like us for him to put together a good run of form and then end up sold in January/the Summer.
Why we have to play with only one man up top I have no idea-- him and Podolski would be lethal in a 4-4-2

any of you lot still doubting Feo?ive said all along he's a good player and should be cf,dont forget he won us the penalty against wigan too and had a good game gainst reading, hes probably the most in form player in the prem right now,i dont think this is just a phase either,i think he will grow to be even better, unfortunately not at Arsenal

Re: He is fcuking off anyway!!!
very very silly quote right there, yes lets sell our best player just because he wants what he's worth,oh i forgot we are only Arsenal and no body is worth 100k a week, ffs mate get over itRugby Gooner wrote:Why is Wenger massaging Walcotts ego? It's about his wedge, not what position he is playing!!!
Sell the greedy wanker, and see if he gets a guarantee from another Club about the position he will play!!!

I am still 100% against giving the guy 100k per week - I cannot fathom how some fans can demand giving the guy that much cash based on 1 or 2 months performances when up to that point he had been distinctively average

"...He is capable of the superb, as we saw today… but I don’t see it often enough to justify breaking the bank to keep him, especially if that’s at the expense of players who can deliver more frequently. As fans, we must be cautious to weigh what we’re willing to give Walcott against what we’re willing to potentially give up. The figures have to be sensible; all Gunners want to keep our best players, and we’re certainly disheartened by losing RVP and Fabregas (amongst others), but that should not make us as fans – or as a club – vulnerable to making emotional decisions."

At the end of the day my take on it is that we will replace him with a younger version, possibly Zaha. It will cost us more in the short-term and it will certainly cost us more in the long-term, unless we manage to break even by nurturing Zaha/replacement for years and then selling him at a profit.

Arsenal need to compete for the championship but we should only pay 100k for top quality players like Villa
. Anybody else see the contradiction?
100k is a squad players wage for many at the teams who are competing for the league. Rooney and the others are 200k plus. Those who are quibbling at 100k are as bad as the financial prudents that have crippled the club.
Theo is improving year on year and is looking much more like the finished article this year. His end product has been superb. Important goals, important assists in just over 9 games worth of league playing time. Paying Theo 100k is not the same as Squillaci or Denilson or the Danish Van Basten. He will always have takers at 100k per week. The lad is going to be an exceptional player.

i think you lot who still doubt that we need Walcott and are happy to have him leave should just go and support someone else unless you can find us an Henry,RVP or Ian wright for less than 100k a week,UN FUCKIN BELIEVABLE

Re: Walcott - contract talks/which position is best etc?
youve said all i needed too.anyone who thinks walcott isnt worth 100k a week is in no position to complain that we dont compete with the best, small club mentality has take over our club and on evidence has worked its way in to this forumCockerill's chin wrote:Arsenal need to compete for the championship but we should only pay 100k for top quality players like Villa. No offence meant to you guys but that is bulls**t - it is easy to make throw away comments without backing them up so why don't you tell us who all these squad players on 100k per week at manure are ? Haven't we all been complaining in recent seasons about how are total wage bill is almost as much as manures even though they have several top earners on way more than our top earners ? Simple fact is that they pay their top players far more than us but their squad players earn much less than our squad players are on. At big clubs like manure players have to consistently deliver before earning big bucks.......potential doesn't get ferguscum wanking off in ecstasy

I don't wanna come the whole business line but anybody that has ever managed or owned a business will tell you that it isn't about the numbers as such but it is about the return that you will get from that investment. I defy anybody to tell us here that walnut has already done enough in his career to justify 100k per week cos it seems that those supporting him are saying that he will deliver as opposed to he has already delivered consistently. Wilshire has shown, when fit, that he can and will deliver week in and week out and for that he has been rewarded with an 80k per week deal.......Wally has yet to show that consistency but still feels entitled to get 20k per week more so how any right minded individual can explain and support that train of thought is beyond me

Re: Walcott - contract talks/which position is best etc?
Whatever the benefits for Arsenal in Walcott extending his contract the real winner would be Walcott himself..except for two things (important things I admit) He could earn more money elsewhere and he could win more elsewhere. But where would he go, Liverpool are mentioned, Arsenal are closer to challenging the top three than Liverpool are, he could go to Anfield and play second fiddle to an aging Gerrard and a petulant Suarez, He could go to City and earn a fortune sitting along side Rodwell on the bench and end up at Sunderland with Johnson. Or maybe United and become a squad player there, how about Chelsea ? I'm sure the manager would love him but the next two or three replacement managers may not. I rate Walcott but he is not good enough to go to any other club and stroll into the team, especially if it's about the position he demands to play in. Walcott doesn't have to be a world class player to play for Arsenal (maybe that's a problem in itself) , we have known more frustrating days than days like yesterday. Other clubs and fans may not be as forgiving . He would be mad to go .

People were calling into 606 yesterday pronouncing how clever Wenger had been with the contract situation because now he was playing up front Wally would have to sign.
Well done Arsene, genius.
