WALCOTT - which position is best etc?

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

A 23 year old lightening quick England international with 30 England caps and 47 appearances in the Champions League. He already has made 240 appearances for Arsenal scoring 56 goals!

When he leaves I will wish him every success as since this contract farce has begun he has always indicated he wants to stay, kept his head down and delivered his best football and goal scoring since joining the club. His only "crime" is expecting to be fairly rewarded for his ability.

However I will hold this against the club forever - yet another reason to not pay the extortionate ticket prices they charge. Cheapest Cat A ticket £62 (plus membership and booking fees) to watch Walcott scoring for Man City, Man Utd or Chelsea against us next season? No thanks Arsenal.

I go to football in the hope of seeing goals - who is gonna score the goals when he is gone?
I agree with most of what you say but Arsenal have scored 39 goals in 19 games (took us 23 games to get this tally last season with rvp, courtesy of arseblog) so we aren't exactly goal shy.........and yes to my shame I read arseblog from time to time    :fryingpan:

And before anyone mentions it  Yes we have scored a lot of our goals against dross but half way is half way
Despite the overall statistic I think we are still somewhat goal-shy. We have scored quite a lot overall but 23 of those came in 4 games. In 11 of those 19 games we've scored 0 or 1 goals, which isn't good enough for a team that leaks goals like we do.

You know the bit I wrote ""and before anyone mentions it"!!!!! Theres always one *word censored* that never lets you down, and you sir are the winner
Haha. It's a slightly different point really, it's not that we've scored the majority of them against shit sides, it's that we've scored most of them in very few games regardless of the opposition. If we score 0 or 1 goals against anybody chances are we'll end up with 1 or quite possibly 0 points.

Northy Son you certainly are raking in the awards.....

But I get you but tbh a stat is a stat......and another stat......we've conceded the fewest goals away from home in the pl :barscarf:

We're gonna win the league on this form :barscarf: ......oh :|

5 League games we have failed to score in this season: Sunderland h, Stoke a, Norwich a, Villa a, Swansea h
6 League games we have scored one goal: City a, Chelsea h, QPR h, Man Utd a, Everton a, Wigan a
8 League games where we have scored more than one goal: Liverpool a, Southampton h, West Ham a , Fulham h, Spurs h, WBA h, Reading a, Newcastle h

So in 11 of our 19 games thus far we have scored either one solitary goal or no goals at all. I'd say that is most definately "goal shy". Especially for a "top club"... If you go and watch games you will surely have noticed this?

From the free kick at the end ? The effort he made at a cross just after giroud came on was absolutely fcuking shocking and worse than the free kick imo  That summed the guy up for me.......wonderful wonderful cross for giroud's diving header v the geordies but as likely to hit row z as any of our players

So last night's 1-1 at Saints another dismal one goal performance - against relegation fodder and this time thanks to an own goal! Yet people still advocating that after losing RVP last season we are better off without Walcott this seasons top goal scorer... Mental

Can't wait to see the uproar on here when Walcott leaves and we are subjected to Gervinho up front every week. Meanwhile Walcott will be banging in the goals every week for United, Chelsea or City.

Walcott got no service at all vs Southampton and still contributed to our goal. Wenger needed to change the formation but did not and we were hounded by a defensive based Southampton. It was a poor game to watch

I was going fucking mental at him for that injury time "cross" from the free kick. He's supposed to be a professional footballer. :rubchin: What a pitiful attempt at such an important moment during the game.

Yes the other cross that hit row z just after Giroud came on was as bad as I've seen all season. One minute he's a devastating force who can tear defenses apart the next he fails at the absolute basics of the game. :?

I think most of us on here realise we have to keep walcott, not because he is world class like rvp but because he by far and away our best forward.

There are only a couple on here that don't want him to stay from what I have read so why are some posters persisting with a campaign as if it were "one man" :?

We get it, we need him to stay, give him the money, throw in a remington hair clipper, his own private car parking space, stylist, masseur, ball boys in row z to throw his crosses back into play.........

In case there is any confusion, I am ok with him staying but not on 100k per week as I feel his talent level is more befitting a squad player at a big club

Btw would those ballboys be entitled to extra money as a danger clause in their contracts much the same way as stuntmen do ? :? One thing is for certain is that they will def be on time and a half for the overtime that they would have to work
