THE WENGER THREAD
Re: Arsene Wenger - For him or against him?
We weren't as sharp technically as we usually are and that's why we did not open them up enough.......
But I don't think the team lacks energy. It looked more like we were a bit nervous because we lost against Wigan - you could see that in the way we played with the handbrake on in the first half.

Isn't it amazing how often it happens and yet he refers to as sharp as we usually are. I think the balance has shifted so when we beat someone like Newcastle 7-3, he should now say "we weren't as one paced, predictable and jaded as we usually are"armchair supporter wrote:We weren't as sharp technically as we usually are and that's why we did not open them up enough.

We were not creative or sharp on Saturday........
It's important that we do well in Greece but, away from home, I'm not too concerned. We look like we play a little bit with the handbrake on at home. It's not fluent. There might be a psychological component in there as well.

Re: Arsene Wenger - For him or against him?
In the end it felt like a victory for us because we came back from 2-1 down with one minute to go. Overall I feel a draw was a fair result. They were dangerous and I feel that in the first half we played with the handbrake on a little bit.

i have to say it, but compare that with the comments melty cheese face just made on bbc.com :
I hate to say it, but right now i think 'Arry is a better manager than AW. triffic
hard work, practice, training, organisation and god forbid tactics....Chelsea 0-1 QPR
QPR boss Harry Redknapp: "We worked hard on the training ground. They worked their socks off and they got their rewards, we deserved it and it was a fantastic performance. We restricted them.
"I played Adel Taarabt up front, telling him to drop into holes and to hold the ball. We worked on it yesterday morning and I am really pleased. They have set the standard tonight and to get out of this mess , they have to do it every week."

Re: Arsene Wenger - For him or against him?
We are in a massive race in the championship, we have an opportunity to qualify in the FA Cup and we have won the first leg in the Champions League. We have much higher targets than the Carling Cup, even though we would have loved to have won it.

I've never ever heard Wenger say he gave a player specific instructions to nullify a threat or to take advantage of a perceived weakness. Or ever heard him say he set the team up in a certain way to play against a team or their system. EVER. FACT!

By all means lets carry on the Wenger slating but I draw the line at lauding the Twitcher as some form of tactical genius
Three days ago they were getting fucked over 0-3 by the Mickeys.

that's my point steve - he's really not.SteveO 35 wrote:By all means lets carry on the Wenger slating but I draw the line at lauding the Twitcher as some form of tactical genius
but the basics of hard work, practice, training and organisation are making ol melty face look a genius at analysing and turning it round a week later compared to our 'thoughtful' leader who doesn't know why we lose, why we lack sharpness, why we are complacent week after week etc etc.

Re: Arsene Wenger - For him or against him?
What worries me is that we have won 4 and drawn 1 of the last 5 against very very mediocre teams .
The two we ran riot on played an open game and we luckily out-shot them though Reading are woeful and Newcastle are making an impressive bid to join the relegation party too !
Our defense is shit and will be taken apart by any team with any semblance of quality and we have a few of those games
coming up.
Against Wigan ,Southampton we hardly created anything and scored through a penalty and an Own goal and against West Brom it took a dubious Penalty to get us going ,the signs are not good unless we change tactics .............which we won't !

Re: Arsene Wenger - For him or against him?
Just reading reports on Ba going to Chelsea it made we realise that we just now go for the dross. Players that are not playing in their own team join Arsenal in some vain attempt to pull off another Vieira or Henry that does not work anymore.
Only good thing about Ba going to Chelsea is that Falcoa might stay at Athletico Madrid. Still City might buy him.
Arsenal no longer go for quality players with Arteta and Carzola the exceptions.
For this reason Wenger can no longer bring success to Arsenal but he does bring in money. If you like the fact that we sold the best player in the Prem League to our biggest rivals then keep Wenger. If you have had enough of this dull 4th place fight then we need to bring in the changes.

From this morning's presser

Posting this here about the deluded one and on the transfer thread for our deluded members.Wenger: 'We have rebuilt a team and we have to show that we can be consistent now'
