THE WENGER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Re: Arsene Wenger - For him or against him?

Post by OneBardGooner »

I watched the newcastle v Everton game online last night...and I really do think Moyes could do a great job at Arsenal.

Not only do ALL the players give 100% for the full duration of the game, without tippy tappy pussy footing around - they ALL know how to tackle and close down the opposition....the tactics employed won them the game...with two excellent goals...one a thunder bolt like free-kick from leighton baines and the other a very well worked goal on the counter-attack..and when required Moyes knew what players to sub and when...simple tactics...... Oooops! silly me did I say Tactics.... or in Inspector Clueless ' native tongue 'Tactique'... :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

I'd be delighted if Moyes joined us, any luck he'd bring Felleini and Baines with him.

im sure hes saying this to p us off

in tonights evening standard

"keeping theo walcott is my most important january deal":

http://www.standard.co.uk/sport/footbal ... 36771.html

what most annoys me are these little pearlers:

“First of all we have to make sure the players who are here stay here, and after we look outside,”

“Let’s try first to finalise with Theo and after that if we need something else, we will go somewhere else, but our first priority is that. The most important players for us are those who are here. Those available on the transfer market will not help us win games."

“Many players want to join us but at the moment all these players are under contract"

absolutely ridiculous comments in that article.

what an absolute joke, so the club is made up of one person who can only do one thing at once. whilst this one person is thrashing out the deal with walcott they cannot do anything else. what a fucking joke AW and us as a club have become.

players are under contract, well thats why you have to buy a player rather than wait until they are not under contract.

theos contract and new signings are mutually exclusive, we cant do the latter until the former has been agreed. what BS. our need for new blood is regardless of theo going or not. if he goes we need one more than we already need simple as that.

im sure he spouts this crap just to wind up the fans as its so stupid i cant see it for anything but our own manager wumming us as its so ridiculous.

un fucking believable

lol It all sounds very much like "We will be happy if we can re-sign Theo, but we don't expect to do any other deals regardless"

I agree with him, signing Walcott should be his priority. If/when Walcott leaves he will then be forced into bringing in a replacement.

I do agree that even if Walcott stays we should be trying to bring in other players but Wenger's financial prudence does not surprise me.

And who is in the slightest bit surprised that Lord Wenger will let another transfer window pass us by without a single significant signing. If your bonus was linked to the profits you make the club, you might keep your hands in your pockets too.

The sad thing is its now at the stage where even if he does spend up to £15m I just know it'll either be on the latest 18 year old wizard from Palace or Southampton, or some fucking useless twat who having spent the most of his career scratching around in the French 2nd and 3rd divisions finally has one average season in Ligue 1 and gets all this prayers answered with a passport to riches forever after from the Self Harmer

walcott and new signings should be equal priority, they are not mutually exclusive, both can be done at the same time. if we dont strengten, i guarantee the virtual trophy wont be coming to the emirates.

The only thing that can cheer me up is if he actually mentions the 'internal market'

Does he get a bonus linked to general profits or player trading profits, two very different things in my mind :?:

i.e I know managers in the pl in the past have made bonuses on player sales.

From what supposed 'people in the know' tell me it is the latter.

I agree that this is the first bit of business that needs to be completed but the fact remains it is laughable that we have left this so late.

This should have been wrapped up long, long ago!

If it is true then that's fuckin disgraceful.

I have always maintained on here that as much as I agree he should go I draw the line at insulting him, but if this is true I may have a few insults saved up that can be projected his way

It baffles me why any club would allow this, it's surely a conflict of interests
