Arsene's Worst Signings

What a shit list! Surely, we can come up with much better than this.

I'd go with

1. Park
2. Gervinho
3. Squillachi
4. Andre Santos
5. Denilson
6. Pascal Cygan - Famously labelled as the 'New Tony Adams'
7. Francis Jeffers
8. Richard Wright
9. Kaba Diawara
10. Tomas Rosicky (appalling injury record when we paid about 7 million for him. If he played, he probably wouldn't have been on the list.)

I would probably give it another season before Aaron Ramsey being terrible replaces Rosicky on the list.

Absolute horse shit. WTF are Wiltord, Reyes & Eduardo doing there, this has just been cobbled together to garner BTL hits surely?

Bendtner, Vela & Wreh cost fucking peanuts and I wouldn't have those there either.

Rubbish.

Agree, very poor article cobbled together

Eduardo, Wiltord, Reyes and Suker were all at one time or another class.

As you have stated Bendtner cost £75k, so was worth a punt and although no world beater is still decent enough.

Jeffers, fine but where is Stephanovs ? Denilosn cost us £5m apparantly so that was money down the pan

This again already?

Hey, how about those prices at the emirates? Pricey wouldn't you say?

fuck! I've just realised that we haven't won anything since 2005!? Can you believe that?

I don't think Ramsey is 'arsenal quality'

It all went wrong when we left highbury

And last but not least,

'So who do you think should replace wenger when he leaves?'

The whole edition is buls**t.

The Holtby headline is he snubs Arsenal then the article clearly f**king states only that we were interested but only the blue and the red dippers inquired about him with the red half actually bidding for him.

HOW THE F**K IS THAT HIM SNUBBING ARSENAL useless 2 bit hacks. Stick to tapping peoples phones to get your stories.

It's just the usual have a cheap shot at Arsenal b*****ks. If I wanted that crap I'd tune into talksh**e

Hands down for me it's Gervinho.

We've signed shitter players (probably) but at least Park's game time was severely limited so he couldn't do too much damage on the field. In addition to paying a fair whack for Gervinho (in comparison to most on that list), he has also played far far far far far too much football.

Have to echo the thoughts of above: Bendtner was next to nothing, Chamakh was nothing, Eduardo was looking a quality buy before his injury and tbh Wreh probably justified that £300,000 with an FA Cup semi-final winner alone. Lazy journalism.

Almunia because of what he cost us.

If he'd been any sort of keeper, those chavvy west londoners would be the 2nd London team to win the champions league. That trophy might have changed this club in a way we couldn't imagine and not into the sh*t we've become.

Agree with Almunia, chances of anybody winning a major trophy with a keeper that shit is minimal. But is he really to blame for losing the CL final? Second goal was shite but at 1-1 having played most of the game with 10 men it was probably a matter of time...

On a more positive note (and to add some balance) how about Wenger's Best Signings?

To get us started:

1 Thierry Henry
2 Patrick Vieira
3 Robert Pires
4 Cesc Fabregas
5 Robin Van Persie
6 Sol Campbell
7 Freddie Ljundberg
6 Marc Overmars
7 Nicholas Anelka
8 Lauren
9 Emmanuel Petit
10 Gilberto

Honourable mentions to Toure, Lehmann, Kanu, Walcott and many others.

Also to be remembered the likes of Adebayor, Clichy, Nasri and Song who may not have enjoyed particularly successful Arsenal careers but were sold on for huge profits and that in itself could be deemed good business.

That article was fucking atrocious. As bad as Vela was we made a profit. Eduardo was a fantastic player. Not his fault the Prem has fucking awful defenders. Bendtner scored quite a few of the bench.

Worst for me are:

Jeffers
Wright
Van Bronckhorst
Cygan
Reyes
Senderos
Diaby
Gervinho
Squillachi
Santos

I really want to find room on this list for Silvestre.

As for the best

Come to think of it everything Hugh said except i'd replace Lauren with Sagna

Can I be a controversial here and say this............

Neither Jeffers or Wright were shit signings. They were shit for Arsenal but at the time they were purchased both were shrewd buys for good reasons and both were well received by us.

Jeffers was meant to be the famous 'fox in the box' that the team needed and as a young England international who was fantastic as a youngster at Everton it seemed a great signing. He was that direct poacher that we cried out for.

Again, Wright was a young England international and widely acccepted as the heir to Seaman's crown as the country's 'keeper. Seaman was having injury problems at the time and with only Taylor in reserve it was seen as a bit of a coup to have two England international 'keepers at the club. He was widely regarded as the best young goalkeeper in the country.

The signings both had a lot of positives and it was nice to see two English players sign for the club during the French reveloution.

Unfortunately they both fucked it right royaly and were shit.

Shit players for Arsenal but in my mind nothing wrong with the signings! It just didn't work out.

Just an alternate view.
