The Old Days
Now i belive myself that arsenal where better when they had seaman, dixon, luzhney, keown, adams, viera, pires, petit, ljunberg, henry, berkamp because if you look we went 49 games unbeaten with NEARLY HALF of thos players and now even though weve got some world class players we havent won anything for 4 years and probably now 5 years and 5 years ago look who we had... just my views
haha - love how you've got Luzhny in there!
Course we were better when we went 49 games unbeaten. We'll never repeat that.
But then Man Utd were better when they won the treble in 99.
And Chelsea were better when they won the league under Mourinho.
Point is, we're better now than we were last year and the year before. We're improving without a doubt, ushering in a new era hopefully.
And all those players are retired now, or declining.
Vieira, Pires, Henry, Ljungberg. All great in their day, but we're a better team without them for now. (Although Henry is good enough, we needed to lose him to progress)
And, stop the myth - we won the cup in 2005, so its 2 years without a trophy, cos we still could we something this year. NOT FOUR.

Quite right there. He played at centre-half alongside a half-fit and limping Keown - absolutely outstanding. Couldn't believe when we got home and found Henry had been given MOM.Wembley Gooner wrote:stevie_b_19 wrote:haha - love how you've got Luzhny in there!quote]

Became a bit of a cult hero, the Horse. I went to Wembley for England v Ukraine in 2000. Oleg was captain of Ukraine and he waved at me from the coach as I was shouting his name when they arrived. Tony Adams got England's second. Only time I've ever seen an England game live and the great TA got the winner.
