As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Points are points whoever they are against. Results against the likes of Norwich, Wigan and WBA over the years and many others should have taken away the arrogance of those who would dismiss performances against such teams.
Walcott has scored important goals for Arsenal. It is harsh after only 10-11 games playing time to dismiss his goals and assists. If after a season he had contributed nothing in the "big games" it may become a talking point. When he has only been given ten-11 games playing time then it seems harsh. He can only score who he is given the chance to play against and he has provided a good return.
The news coming out of the club is that he is about to sign. Once he has then the club have done its job and its up to Walcott to justify his stance and his bigger salary. He has put pressure on himself and he needs to consistently deliver.
I understand you wanting walnut to stay and I have no problem with that but the highlighted part of your statement is a bit of an exageration dont you think ? Without wishing to copy flash and start quoting stats ( ) I think the fact that most of his goals come in the last 15 minutes would suggest that his goals are rarely game changing important goals for the team - his goals look good on his cv when it comes to negotiating a new deal but we cannot and should not ignore the fact that his goals have largely come against 2nd rate teams or have come in the dying stages of games which for me doesnt merit 100k per week

The problem we have Augie is Theo (like so many other players over recent seasons) was far too highly remunerated at a very young age and now wants "what he's worth".
We are kind of in a catch 22 as if we sign him up it's for too much money for what he's produced but if we don't, it'll cost the club more to recruit a replacement of equal calibre when we include transfer/leech fees/loyalty bonus etc.
He (walcott) should've been on an incremental contract a la Welbeck etc and then we wouldn't be in the stupid situation where a 17-year-old kid is earning £60k per week and doesn't see a £15k pay rise as 'fair'.
Basically, blame Wenger for our cunty-booby wage structure.
I'm not too sure if it is an exaggeration Augie. For a young lad he has notched up goals including Cup Finals, Barcelona etc. Also important against Udinese last year. Great assist for Ade against the victims that should have seen us through. I see him as a big game player. This year against Schalke was important too.
I think his league playing time amounts to 10-11 games TM. Not a bad return in terms of goals and assists.
Paying Theo 100k isn't an indication of how far we have fallen. Allowing important players to leave is.
Indeed CC. I bet you augie didn't know that Theo has scored in more Cup Finals (and semi-finals? ) for Arsenal than the great Henry - despite playing in fewer!!

And am I not correct when I say that it was always the big knock against henry that he never performed will in the big cup games ? I know that I went to 4 cup finals and he was woeful in everyone of them
Indeed you are. Still, I think most of us can forgive him that for everything else he produced (although some won't forgive the misses in the CL Final)

That's me! Still cannot believe he fucking bottled them.
I personally blame THBW14 for the fact that Slackjaw Phil Neville has a CL winners medal and Dennis Bergkamp doesn't.
None of the above, give him whatever money he wants so you can get a decent fee for him in the summer. Having said that, we've fallen so bad these last 4 years that he's really important for the club right now.
He has done enough in the last 18 months to command a 90k per week wage - sign him up. He's miles ahead of all of our other strikers - sad but true. Not the finished article but better to have a "maybe" than a "never will be" like Forehead, The Camel or Le Chapman
he's been our best player by far this season,we are ARSENAL,decent players salaries at our club should start around the 90K level not around the 50k,if we want to compete this is where it starts,im not saying Wally is Henry ,far from it,but if Henry was an Arsenal player now and in his prime we'd have to be looking at 150k a week for a player like him.lets hope this new Wally contract is the new benchmark for Arsenal wages, decent players need to be rewarded and the biggest payers get the best players,an area which we have lacked in for 7 years now.
