Debenture Bond v Season Ticket
Debenture Bond v Season Ticket
Maybe some of you guys who have one or both of these can help me out........
I got offered a ST at the end of last season but due to a change in circumstances (ie:-£16,000+pa net worse off!) I had to defer it to the end of this season. Now I know there is no guarantee I will get offered it again but I reckon I will at the end of this season.
I also have an offer of a Debenture bond. I know this will also give me the automatic right to buy a season ticket. But with this I can instead get a "bond silver membership" which allows me to buy seats 1 week before silver members. (So pretty much get a seat for any game I want).
So as far as I can see it the difference between the two is that with a season ticket I have a chance of getting a seat to any prospective finals and with the "bond silver membership" I dont?
Anybody can shed any light or give opinions I'd appreciate it.
BTW I'm still £16,000+ down pa so this is all pretty much just conjecture and thinking out loud and anyway I prefer aways.
TIA

Re: Debenture Bond v Season Ticket
I have two season tickets which are debentures too ,a hangover from the old North Bank .
As far as I know the Bonds are worthless but you were supposed to have your own named seat for life and if
you couldn't afford the season ticket you could buy YOUR OWN SEAT before any other sale could be made .
I'm really not sure if this practise has carried over as the club have been very quick to obliterate any signs of the debenture .
They made various other promises at the time like your own bar and the guarantee of the cheapest season ticket in the house but they have been buried deep !

Asked my old man about this Herd and as far as he's aware he said that it guarantees you to a season ticket even if you give yours up, although you obviously won't be able to demand your old seat back if someone else has taken it in the meantime.
Re: Debenture Bond v Season Ticket
Cheers but in the Old North Bank your seat was your seat and they couldn't sell it as a season ticket ,they could only sell it as a match ticket and even then you had first dibs on it match by match !
Re: Debenture Bond v Season Ticket
I've done a post on this on another thread, basically if you give your ST up as a bond holder you become a silver bond member, guaranteed a ticket on a match by match basis. I have a letter from Arsenal saying I can have a season ticket again when I like but I will have to choose from what is available pre season.
It's a good way of getting tickets without the commitment of a full season. The bond can still be sold through the company Brewer Dolphin, but trying to find a buyer in these times for an Arsenal bond is like trying to pick out a Wenger interview that isn't full of bullshit and lies!! Bloody tough!!

I liked having the name plaque on the seat, took mine off after the last game there. Seem to remember the club trying to flog your actual seat (along with everything else) back to you for a steep price?Herd wrote:Cheers but in the Old North Bank your seat was your seat and they couldn't sell it as a season ticket ,they could only sell it as a match ticket and even then you had first dibs on it match by match !

Re: Debenture Bond v Season Ticket
There are generally tickets available for cup finals to be fair, the only one you might struggle for would be the Champions League, and that is not going to happen for a while yet.armchair supporter wrote:Yes, I know.SWLGooner wrote:Cup finals![]()

The bond was great at the time, had a bondholder bar and a bondholder restaurant with decent price beer and food. Season tickets were piss cheap as well.
We are shit to them now.

I have a silver bond membership(b debenture), it doesn't help jump the queue to get a cup final ticket any more, you are just placed in the same pot as silver members(after gold members etc).
So I wasn't able to use it to get a league cup final ticket(or FA Cup semi final ticket) since we moved to The Emirates.
