Swansea
Swansea
You have to take you hat off to them.
Well organised.
Every player composed and comfortable on the ball.
Defensively well organised
A clinical striker.
They deserve to win the CC1 cup and to play against BCFC because both are a breath of fresh air. Minimal cash spent, good tacticians for managers and a team that all plays for each other.
Good luck to either of them.
PS hope I haven't jinxed it for either of them.

Re: Swansea
Yes, all achieved on a much lower budget than ours... funny that... also tactics plays a part, a word that Wenger doesn't do!

Re: Swansea
Great result for the fuckers.I can see them coming to our place next week and giving us another bumholing
They've got the tactical battle won already
come to think of it
any manager with more than 5mins experience in the game has Arsoles number tactically

Re: Swansea
was thinking is good result for us. they are bound to rest players against us now, knowing they are 90 mins away from wembley.
however they will be full of confidence having been to us and chelsea and got 2-0 results.

Re: Swansea
great to see combining a passing game with some solid defending and tactics.
As for Chelsea, Torres, totally undroppable, chelsea will just have to learn how to play with 10.

I rarely agree with anything you say but in this instance I fully concur !northbank123 wrote:They are dirty Jack bastards though. Just saying.
Only one I ever liked was Hartson !
Re: Swansea
You have to give them credit for what they have achieved - almost out of business a few years ago and a club that started to rebuild under martinez who laid a very strong foundation from which rodgers reaped more attention than he was entitled to
Credit to laudrup too cos he seems to have taken them up a notch since his arrival and michu and chico flores are very good players
Cannot go along with the rumours of michu being cherry picked by one of the big clubs this month - firstly I dont think he would be as successful at a big club but secondly, surely even in this mercenary world, a player wouldnt up sticks and leave just 4 months after leaving a club would he ?
As much as we all admire bradfords run, I do feel that a swansea v villa final would be the best game for the neutral - a final involving the chavs would be the worst scenario for us Gooners but would also probably lead to a one sided final

Re: Swansea
Unless you've got some local South Wales rivalry with them there really isn't much not to like or admire is there? They play decent football coupled with defensive organisation and don't sign superstars - sounds like someone I used to know. Laudrup has added what the previous managers failed to find i.e. a top quality PL striker in Michu to round off their team. Like all smaller clubs they will suffer hard the day they get 3 or 4 key injuries but it seems like that particular affliction only seems to affect certain clubs with any sort of regularity
Good luck to them. I would like to see them win the League Cup and add their name to the list of clubs we couldn't possibly compete with that have won a trophy since 2005 including Portsmouth and Birmingham City

Re: Swansea
imo a lot of credit should go to Laudrup. He's kept Swansea's 'proper' football style, but speeded it up a bit (AW take note) and he's pushed Michu further forward than he used to play in Spain.
I'm not surprised the big clubs overlooked him (in Spain as well as here). When I watch him he doesn't exude class. He just keeps scoring goals.
Once Laudrup has a decent amount of English experience he may even have a shout at replacing AW.

In all seriousness what they've done is phenomenal. The club was a complete mess in the late 90s and watching them ploughing around that dump of a ground in Div 3 must seem like another life to their fans.
They have a good footballing philosophy and are actually run very well sensibly. They aren't dependent on any one player or even manager, and their chairman thinks about what's right for the club and for the fans. Yes, there's a glass ceiling because they'll always be a selling club by virtue of their size but their so-called 'star players' like Allen and Sinclair have been sold for well over their value and replaced with no visible detrimental effect on their squad. At the end of the day I'd rather see clubs like Swansea coming up than teams like Stoke and Sheffield United who just want to kick lumps out of people.
Their ability does need to be put into context though. They've had some phenomenal results this year and must be in dreamland but some people (especially on here) talk about them like they're unbeatable. A lot of people think they're genuinely a far better team than us. They're still level on points with Stoke and below Liverpool and West Brom, too far off the average teams chasing top 4 to be challenging for that. They may have had a handful of players missing but when we turned up for 40 minutes last weekend we showed how good they really are: they couldn't string a few passes together or get the ball out of their half until we went 2-1 up and decided we fancy a replay.
