Interesting that Wenger is considering to loan out the freshly minted Jenkinson out till the end of the season.

WTF ? You pay a man 30 k a week to be loaned out ?

Zabaleta, Ivanovic, Sagna.

Makes it in my book, or at least did, until he came back from injury and lost the will to live after contract shenannigans.
I would have had Raphael in there myself, sagna's complete inability to cross the ball into a dangerous area, regardless of wether or not there is a team mate capable of winning the header is criminal at this level!
You may say he's a defender first, but modern full backs are secondary wingers now, and being able to cross a ball is a required skill!
Just woken up to an image of a Teenage Mutant Turtle scuttling up and down our right wing. Pedantic, but made me chuckle

I'd be more worried that we don't have much cover than how much he's paid a week.

Agreed. FFS - look what happened last year....we had Djourou and Coquelin playing at RB and one of them is already out on loan. You just know that no sooner we'd loan out Jenkinson that Sagna would break down again and we'd be going to Munich with Coquelin at RB.

Please lets learn a few lessons from the past. Also, when is the last time anyone other than Wilshere (who played a full season on loan in the PL) benefitted from these loans. As far as I see the likes of Frimpong, Watt, Vela, Mannone etc came back just as shit, if not worse, than before they went

Sagna has not played very well in his last few games. He is doing his job without any passion for the club anymore. Thats what happens when you keep this insane over 30s policy. If he is replaced by a very good player then its no problem that he is leaving but we all know that he will not be.

Perhaps I'm naive but maybe Sagna's poor form over the past two or three games is down purely to tiredness, having got through the first few games back from his injury on adrenaline, which is what most experts claim happens with players on the comeback trail? :rubchin: :rubchin:

Raphael ?? Seriously burnsy ?? I'd have jenkinson ahead of him every day of the week

In my opinion zabaleta is the only player across europe that can rival sagna as best right back 8) The guy has been very poor of late but as the old saying goes....form is fleeting but class is permanent 8)

Agree on both counts. Rafael is a fucking liability. He's only playing because Jones and to a lesser extent Smalling have failed to live up to their billings.

Speaking of that, what a turnaround from 12 months ago when Phil McCuntly was writing blogs about how Jones was the future of English football when in reality the bloke is a calamity who wouldn't look out of place in an Arsenal shirt. He's just a fit Andre Santos. Likewise Smalling was praised to high heaven for months after he signed, but even though he's had injuries he's really struggled for game time despite Vidic being injured for more than a year, Ferdinand's bones creaking every time he sets off and Jonny Evans' very limited ability.

Do like Zabaleta though, goes about his job quietly but does it well. Obviously a right-back needs to be able to meet a certain standard going forward, but people get far too carried away with that to the extent that players like Walker who is lightning fast but not much else is rated Spurs' best-ever right back (LOL).

The less shit Da Sliva twin is great as an attacking full back but defends like a WW2 Fench soldier. It's a pass for me.

I really rate Sagna. Yes, he has been a bit up and down at times but who wouldn't playing in our 'defence'.

Another player who came to the club, looked a million dollars, and then their form dropped off. This is where Wenger's inability to inspire a sound defensive policy leads to what we now have with Sagna & Vermaelan.

Different subject, but look how he ruined Arshavin. Came to the club, was fantastic, then Wenger got his hands into him and boy, look at him now.

Jenkinson's long contract was the confirmation that next season he will be first choice RB. Yennaris will be the back up and we might just bag a few million along the way

Sagna has been one of the most consistent players at the club these past few seasons and he will be sorely missed especially once Jenko's honeymoon period is ruined by Wenger playing him in 40+ games per season just like Ramsey

We will be losing a great defender he is good and was consistent up to the point of the transfer window opening... co incidence lol his head is already at intermilan....

however the one thing i wont miss is his crossing of the ball, fack me it was awful it seemed like a chore when he beat a player on the wing, and it appears he wouldnt even look into the box, it was just head down and cross it blind.

almost as if he was programmed primarliy to beat the player on wing then cross to box = job done.

its a shame but i hear the club have fucked him off, thing is I can beleive that as well, they hold enough utter contempt for the fans already, fans being the bread and butter of their extravagent management salaries and bonuses that arent performance related...dont bite the hand that feeds and all that

I think people are a bit selective when it comes to "favourites" like Sagna. He's as much a part of the back four as anyone and therefore as much to blame.

I appreciate the manager and coaches responsbilities but with Sagna's experience should we not expect a bit more? After all they are not fucking robots. He must have an idea where he's going wrong himself.
