Before the game they had a banner up saying "£62 - where does it stop?", within a couple of minutes there were a load of stewards in there and never saw it again. I know the club have said fans can't have anti Wenger banners but are all negative banners banned?

As for the game, usual defensive shite in the first half. My main gripe with the ref was letting them get away with all the cyncial stuff like kicking the ball away and pulling players back when we got past them to halt the attacks. All of the major decision were correct even if the Kompany one may be slightly harsh on reflection (it looked like he jumped in live so understandable that he sent him off).

Defeats to Swansea and Chelsea and the pressure will be ramped up again on Wenger, and if we don't reduce the deficit on the scum with our game in hand then he'll really be up against it.

whats that :?:
He didn't blame the sending off for the defeat. When asked did he think it was a pen he said he hasn't seen it again but he was told it was so fair enough. He also said that just coz we were down to ten 10 it doesnt mean we cant defend properly. Also said he didnt think Kompany should've been sent off.
cheers mate 8)
He also said that Diaby had an outstanding game and got stronger as the match went on...
Fuck me sideways  What he meant was diabys passing to the man city players got more accurate as the game wore on

I wanted Mertesacker to play in defence today, though playing from the start was what I had hoped for.

A loss should make no difference in the race for 4th as there wasn't much chance of getting more than a lucky point from this game. :(

Can't believe some fans on twitter are blaming Dean for the defeat. The only wrong caall you could argue he made was the kompany red card

I don't want to hear any whinging about Mike Dean and his decisions. Kompany's red card was harsh, Koscielny's was not. Oh yeah Koscielny - the bloke everybody has wanted to bring back into the side to pair up with that the useless German lump at the expense of TV5. Well give me TV5 any day. After the sending off in the first half only Ches, TV5 and Wilshere showed any heart or desire whatsoever, whilst the rest wandered around feeling sorry for themselves looking as if the whole world was against them. Nobody denies that playing with 10 against City is a difficult proposition but the way we folded like a cheap poker hand was fucking embarrassment....and people actually want to take the captaincy away from one of the few fucking blokes that cares

Mertesacker outjumped at every set play AGAIN. What does anyone see in this useless piece of shit - can't jump, can't run, clumsy and ponderous. Honestly he was fucking abysmal and I'd love to hear any sort of defence for that shambolic effort. Gibbs was awful for the second goal, what a poofy fucking tackle to lead to that goal. Cazorla absolutely fucking anonymous for 45 minutes, Walcott straying offside to break whatever little rhythm we were trying to put together.

Abou was shit - there I've said it. As soon as I knew he was playing in that fucking holding role, I knew it would be a mistake and it was. As usual when he was in the dangerous areas e.g. setting up Podolski in the first half he showed touches of pure class but he never ever will be a CDM and Lord Wenger is just going to ruin him along with many others. Whilst we're on that topic - Lukas Podolski - you might as well bugger off son because yet again you were nowhere near the worst player on display out there but of course the Self Harmer had to sub you didn't you?

And if anyone fancies defending Giroud's honour tonight please spare me. Even Mrs SteveO was saying "why is he always falling over?". Honestly the bloke has all the grace of a drunk giraffe, but he won a few meaningless flick ons so that's OK I guess

All in all, a complete fucking shambles. Defensively inept as ever, no spirit whatsover until the game was already lost, and too many players that simply aren't anywhere near top four standard

This is definitely going to be Wenger's worst ever season in charge and I'm glad that the fans are finally starting to vote with their feet. I really hope we don't finish in the top 4 and that it fucking hits Kroenke hard - to the tune of £30m or so - because this entire management team have been fucking us all over for too long

Pitiful on and off the pitch....but I hear we're "working really hard to strengthen". Don't make me fucking laugh Wenger - same comments, different transfer window. Just please please please fuck off now and leave our club in the hands of somebody who actually cares

I think its the less serious stuff tht annoys me more, dzeko was constantly fouling think he kicked the ball away on 1 occasion as well and he wasnt alone in tht,and yet no action taken, dont know how many times wilshere was fouled (bar the red card  )again no action taken. As for our red card and the pen he was spot on,brainless defending from kos and not for the 1st time either.Their red card looked a bit harsh and depending what angle you saw it from another ref might have given a yellow card.We dont have a great record when hes in charge.

Dean was generally dreadful, let the game get away from him at times even though it was a pretty mild affair. Didn't change the outcome at all though.

Regarding Kompany, he was five yards away from the ref and needlessly jumped in with studs showing and both feet off the ground. What the hell did he expect? May say it was a 'harsh' red card but in those circumstances he'd get sent off more often than not, particularly away from home.

We now have the prospect of playing Ramsey vs Bayern Munich.

Heh.

Schweiny will not let him get a touch.

Not to worry - their defence will be shitting themselves over the prospect of facing Giroud

Thank you SteveO. Mertesacker is a disgrace. He doesn't even ATTEMPT to win headers. All that fucking size and I even saw Tevez beat him in the air once despite the Hapless Fucking German having a good 15 inches on him. I remember saying he was good I feel clueless now. Another player who needs to get the fuck out of the club.

With their full-back Alaba you have a player that can match Walcott for pace, and Lahm... well, I feel sorry for Ox if he has to try to get past him.

If TA6, bouldie or keown made the tackle that kompany made we would all be raving about it but the way the game is nowadays you just are not allowed make tackles like that :(

Nowadays I find myself despondent after a game like this rather than flat out angry - we expect to be beaten on a regular basis nowadays, we expect the same shit tactics to be used and we expect the same shit players to be playing so most of the time I feel that it is pointless getting angry
What does worry/anger me though is the "body language" of poldolski and cazorla - it appears clear to me that these two footballers were enticed to us mainly at the prospect of working under the guidance of a guy rumoured to be amongst the greatest managers ever but they have now discovered that it is all a myth and the reality isnt to their liking. Cazorla has been appaling and largely anonymous for the last month or so and poldi looks like a guy that has given up already and expects to be the guy taken off every week when a sub is being made cos lets face it he wouldnt be wrong  He has already voiced his frustration at being played out of position and there is no sign of wenger changing that tactic anytime soon. What reports do you think these guys are giving their buddies when they meet up for international games ? We are fast becoming a sinking ship in terms of prestige and if this continues then even 2nd rate players wont want to sign for us it was summed up best on sky after the game today when they said that a few seasons ago we were watching A grade players like Bergkamp, Henry, Cesc and wrighty and now we have only a couple of players who would be good enough to be classed as B grade

This is what pisses me off when people use this lame excuse about zonal vs man-to-man marking. It wouldn't matter with defenders like Koscielny and Mertesacker because they can't tackle or jump properly. Mertesacker is the worst kind of defender; a guy who loves to do all the easy bits and pieces stuff on the deck but who shits his fucking pants when bodies are flying around. The way Dzeko climbed over him in the second half and glanced that header wide, while the useless lump covered his face like a little girl in the crowd scared of getting hit by the ball.

Lets suppose we change to man-to-man marking. Mertesacker would still get outjumped for every set play, and Ligue Deux gave another great example of how well he does in man-to-man situations again today when faced with a physical player like Dzeko. That was pure comedy gold for their first goal. We'll add Dzeko to the list that includes Zamora, Kevin Davies, Jason Roberts and Zigic in exposing his complete lack of physicality

Change to man to man marking tomorrow with the same personnel and I fucking guarantee you that it wouldn't make a single difference (in fact their lack of one-to-one defending ability would probably mean we became even fucking worse defensively)
