THE WENGER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

In answer to the thread title, I'm still pretty much against him. :|

I think comparing Wenger to the non functioning alcoholic corrupt *word censored* that was Brian Clough is a bit rich !
Peter Taylor was the man who unearthed the rough diamonds and also coached the sides that won trophies .

The Villa fans do it on 19 minutes for Petrov, the Chavs do it on 16 minutes for De Matteo so let us do it on 70 minutes for Wenger. Standing ovation to the sound of "one Arsene Wenger" as le boss makes his first change to rescue /fuck up a game. It would be a fitting tribute to the genius as a frustrated Ox or Pod is replaced by Gerv or Ramsey.

For the record GG will always be our best ever manager in my mind but I wont disagree that wenger was a great manager back in the day and it is sad to see him in his present guise but it is even sadder to see what he is doing to our club and nobody, regardless of what they have given to the club, is more important than the team itself.

Lock this fcuker down
Also for the record, whilst I do think Wenger is our greatest ever manager (2 Doubles and the Invincibles! and also the way he modernised us, and made us so beautiful to watch, and got so much from GG's back 4 towards the end of their careers, and the calibre of players he signed in between 1997 and 2004) I never warmed to Wenger like I did to GG. George was proper Arsenal for me. Ex player, double winner, the club blazer, the "everyone hates us, fuck them" attitude, the "Into the breach" style speech after the fight at Old Shatford, bringing the pride back to The Arsenal, Anfield 89... I could go on... 8)

So while I rate Wenger as our greatest manager in terms of success and achievements, my favourite is still GG. Arsenal Legend. 8)

Given the players each had at their disposal I rate GG higher, Wenger would have bottled 89' even with his best 11, and GG was only 1 game away from his own invincibles.
GG left under a cloud and with the fans beginning to doubt him and had he not been sacked I think he would have resigned with his respect intact.
Wenger has become arguably our most hated manager (by some) ever in our history, and will when he eventually fucks off, leave in what I would consider "disgrace"

Really? After GG went on to manage the scum? He went from number 1 and an absolute hero in my eyes to a fucking *word censored* after he did that, i'll never forgive him for managing them and managing them to a trophy too..... He ranks alongside cashley and lesbo na$ri for me

For some, including me, he has dragged out this decline for far too long but I still feel that if he walks away soon then it wont be in disgrace - however if he decides to see out his contract (at the very least eh steve o  ) then I have no doubt that he will leave with his reputation absolutely shattered beyond repair. It is obvious that we are further away from success now than we were the day he joined our club and when you see and hear fans who used to be rabid wenger supporters now openly cristicising him then there clearly can be no way back for him. If he loved the club as much as he claims then he would walk away.....if he stays then it can only be about the 7.5m per year and/or personal pride and neither should interfere with what is best for the club

Didn't those *word censored* make GG dig up his Arsenal patio when he took over the scum?

Yep. Even after he dipped his cock in the cesspool of inbred scum bastards. He joined them only to stick his finger up at our Board after they hung him out to dry IMHO. Yes he was guilty as fuck, but so was Taggart and Cloughie (and probably 90% of the managers in Div 1 at the time. The press went after GG and us with a vengeance because of GG's poor relations with them.

But it was also time for him to go on a footballing front too. His last years with us had seen us reduced to a cup team at best. But I will always love GG. Arsenal Legend. 8)

Perhaps by answering the questions on this thread below people might get a more balanced view of who was the better manager..
