If Turnip is still here in 2018 we'll have been relegated I reckon.

Re: Our Future
Ahhh, but all of the property developments will have been realised, the Arsenalisation of the bowl will be complete, the debt will be repaid leaving us free "to compete with the Championship's elite", we'll have the first £200 seat in world football, and Lord Wenger will celebrate another virtual trophy on a glorious Wembley day the following season when we beat Burnley on penalties to win the play-offs1989 wrote:If Turnip is still here in 2018 we'll have been relegated I reckon.

But don't worry Ivan Gazidis will reassure us that the recently secured 2020 sponsorship deal with Pukka Pies will allow us to compete with the Championship's finest in just two more years.1989 wrote:If Turnip is still here in 2018 we'll have been relegated I reckon.

'Fans are furious that photos of the Dutch ace celebrating at the Emirates stadium have been included in the new diary — many of which were Christmas presents.'
How dare they put a picture of RVP celebrating a goal with other Arsenal players in the 2013 diary!
Come on The Sun....poor piece??!! BUT I see you're trying to get at The Arsenal from which ever angle to expose what ever...carry on.....

Re: Our Future
Thing is we now all know that going into the Bayern Munich game that will not win. This current team does not do surprises. We generally know that we will lose to United, Chelsea and City. We will have the odd shock defeat at home to the likes of Swansea.
We will lose away to other Prem Teams as well.
We always qualify in the group stages of Champ League and then play a very good team and lose.
We charge the highest ticket prices but do not buy the best players.
It was all over when Van Persie left as it made it perfectly clear that the club is going in the wrong direction. That will not change after Wenger leaves unless Kronke goes too.

Re: Our Future
Still grim.

Re: Our Future
Agree. The only big game we've won recently where I've been surprised was the 5-3 at Chelsea last season, especially twice coming from behind to win, but on reflection that was against AVB's experimental XI that soon collapsed before normal service was resumed. Whether Spurs finish above us or not, I watched them dismantle United 3-2 at OT (could have been 6-2) and thought to myself how we used to do exactly that i.e. march into Old Trafford and impose our slick passing game on the Mancs and push them on to the back foot. Now, we roll up with our one isolated striker and seem content to keep the score down to a respectable 2 goal deficit if possible. Likewise in the CL, on the run to the 2006 final we showed we could beat Real on their own patch, Juve and very nearly Barca with 10 men. I fully expect us to roll over to a tame 2 or 3 goal surrender in Germany next month.supergeorgegraham wrote:Thing is we now all know that going into the Bayern Munich game that will not win. The demise started with the sale of Cole to Chelsea and the stadium move of the same year. We basically said to a domestic rival - "yep you can come and bully us into selling and if you offer a few bob more we'll gladly sell you one of our best players". £5m + Gallas - that was fucking scandalous. Every year thereafter we've sold one or more of our best players. Before that we'd sell the likes of Petit, Overmars, Anelka on our terms and to overseas clubs for massively inflated prices.
The club have settled for second best (sorry fourth best) for so long now that the confidence of the players to go and win big matches has vanished. There are no leaders at the club - a couple of tigers like Wilshere and TV5, but they are let down by 9 others who couldn't give a flying and accept mediocrity too easily. I can't see any break from the pattern until the owner sells to someone who is genuinely interested in making us compete for trophies again

Re: Our Future
To be fair, this started happening long before Kroenke, so the finger must be pointed back at the Frenchman.SteveO 35 wrote:[

Re: Our Future
I agree, but the only way we'll get rid of the Frenchmen is through a change of ownership as he is Kroenke's money making machine and will never kick him outbegeegs wrote:To be fair, this started happening long before Kroenke, so the finger must be pointed back at the Frenchman.SteveO 35 wrote:[

Re: Our Future
The only team that we've beaten in any knockout competition since 2006 that can be regarded as anything like top drawer was AC Milan in 2008. And frankly I didn't think they were a great team by any means, too old and over-reliant on an overrated Kaka who didn't have a sniff between Senderos and Flamini.
