WALCOTT - which position is best etc?

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

:banghead:fucking right mate, that means he's on 1,000,000 quid per performance which is the true way of looking at this.....another wage skiver bedded in at wengers holiday camp for easy money footballers....why do people say well done?...whats he done so well?....running fast without ball control.
As opposed to that knobhead he signed from Montpellier that is earning an infinite amount per performance on the basis that he hasn't had one yet.

People do realise that if we had sold Walcott we'd be down to the Klingon and Le Chapman don't they? Fuck me, I'd rather have Franco di Santo and Shaun Maloney from Wigan than those two utterly useless tools

Exactly. I think there should be a banner in the ground that says, "Theo. Fast but shit!".

You can stick it next to the one that says "The goal's that way" with a massive fucking arrow, so that Montpellier's finest gets a little bit of help before the next time he shanks it into row Z or even better his own face

Not arguing with that - but the fact we have a team full of second raters does not make Walcott good. The truth is we are so bad now that keeping players like him is seen as a coup when in reality it is just another sign of how far we have fallen.

Look, I know he ain't a world beater by any stretch but 100k really isn't the big deal it once was and the sad reality (I agree) is that we would be worse off without him. Personally I think its worth the punt. 8 years ago he'd have been 5th or 6th choice striker but when you've got the Ivorian Tony Daley (thanks Baba :barscarf: ) and the French Lee Chapman then needs must.....and we have an owner, CEO and Manager not capable of signing a major player between them

Honestly, the prospect of Chapman and Daley up front for the rest of the season was the stuff of relegation nightmares

In between running into defenders and falling on the floor or hurtling into the advertising hoardings when he has over-run the ball. Hopeless player and to think we have three and a half years more of it.

Mixed feelings on this. Leaning to more positive than negative. Defo think 100k is too much. That being said we have a bunch of guys whoa re on 40-50-60k a week on our 'socialist' benefit system, who don't play anymore than a handful of games a season so it's not a disaster. On the other hand it does set a dangerous precedent. Still I think Podolski's 90k a week wage is ridiculous also and nobody complains about that.

I think we will agree to disagree. Hopefully you are right....but I doubt it on past performances (his not yours).

And yet some think I am the one that hates him

Can I just say (again :banghead: ) that I am not against the brainless shite staying at our club but at a deal more befitting his ability (would 10k per week be excessive ?  ) and 100k per week is not justifiable imo

There are 96 pages that can be summed up as

pay him he's the best we've got and any way aw will not replace him

versus

he's not worth it and is a sign of the club's decline.

96 fucking pages. :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Maybe it can be closed when it gets to 100 pages to represent every thousand pound our latest overpaid flop is paid.

Overpaid flop? Possibly - as I said time will tell

Anyway he's still our leading scorer, so until everybody's little darlings "100 cap Poldi" and "he puts in a good shift Chapman" come good, what does it make them?

As for the Klingon, don't even get me started. He's got his own special thread deserving of his own special talents.

Once more, think about if we hadn't tied Walcott to this deal - a forward line of Chapman, Klingon, left winger Poldi? Or are you all thinking that super quality Gnabry was going to be Wenger's new Henry. Or even more laughable - were you hoping that Inspector Goon might actually sign a decent forward rather than another poor man's Mark Hateley from Ligue 1.

We'd have got no more than £8m for Walcott with six months left to run and Wenger would have spurned it all away on some fucking no mark from Toulouse or Lens.

Anyone care to place a bet that their little favourite ArchedBack of NotreDame will outscore Walcott this season?
