Brighton Away Tix travel pubs etc

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

highbury jd, mcdowell - if you both keep derailing my topic I will have you both banned. 8)

Brighton are a decent club riding a crest at the moment in the championship. I remember that awful withdean ground they used to use which looked like a dilapidated athletics ground.

I think that might be because it was a dilapidated athletics ground

Bloody hell! such a simple thing that would make such a positive difference to many grounds. :jealous icon:

Train-wise, it might be an option to go via Lewes there and back and avoid Brighton. Both Brighton and Lewes have loads of pubs near the town centre. The police may well try to shove you into Trevorspoons but if you can, avoid and try one of the non-home fan boozers. There's dozens to choose from.

And one last thing - just a friendly word of warning that the police and stewards have started clamping down very hard on homophobic chanting this season compared with previous seasons and there's been prosecutions and bannings as a result. The usual low-level 'does your boyfriend know you're here' won't see you get into trouble but there's been some stuff said and gestured that has been deemed beyond the pale by the powers that be.

Enjoy your trip, we're rightly proud of our award-winning stadium having been homeless for 14 years -2 years playing our home games in Gillingham 100 miles away and then the rest in a converted running track. Our new home was built by the same company who built the Emirates, I just wish it was in town.

Nice one mate, thanks for the info, always nice when an opposition fan comes on here and joins in pre match. 8)

You mean you don't have lukewarm gnats piss lager thats sat on the warm serving hatch for 20 mins at £3.50 a shot? Fuck me - you'll never make the Premiership. And what's all this concessions for away fans.....pah, charge em £62 and be done with it

All jokes aside would be good to see you boys in the Prem :barscarf:

I've realised positivity is not wanted here (hurts the touchier part-timers feelings)

why are you posting on this thread, is there any chance of you actually going...?

I'll enjoy the matches,
you just carry on praying for defeats to revel in sweetheart

Good evening Gooners, Brighton fan here.

First of all good luck on Sunday.

Looking forward to next Saturday, I see you've sold out your (4000) allocation and we've sold out too, so full house, 3pm on a Saturday on the coast, what more could you ask for. (Our ground isn't complele and finished yet, it will end up as 30,750 but two corners have yet to have the seats put in, so should be about 27,000 next week.)

Loads of pubs around Brighton station, pretty much all away friendly with one or two exceptions,if you want real ale The Evening Star near the station is superb. shame the trains have got Major problems, normally from Victoria it's an hour, but next Satirday count on double that.

If you are driving, there is no parking anywhere near the stadium, but there are three park and rides, cost included in your match ticket (£28.00, bargain!) also if you are coming by train, only buy a ticket to either Hayward Heath, Or Shoreham. Again, cost of the local transport is included in your ticket price.

On the pItch, I just hope you don't score too early and spoil what will be a great atmosphere. One of my best friends is a massive Gooner, STH at Highbury/Emirates and I know he enjoys away games much more than home games.

I was the in 79 when you lot won 4 0 on our first game in the First Division,oh and Brady has a special place for us too after he didn't jump shp in our hour of need. Rumour has it he will be guest of honour next Saturday. I hope so.

armchair - what's your point caller?
I'm trying not to argue about Wenger, hatred for our manager just ends up winding me up
so I'm sticking to history and travel... what's your problem with that?

this is an away day thread - the away day is all I'm interested in talking about
really can't be bothered to argue with numpties following me here with nothing on their minds but a row

back to the subject, I'm jealous of so many on here who were there in '79,
on the other hand I'm always excited to see us play new opposition
BHA_fan and StuartL thanks for the info, very kind. Ticket with built in travel card will come in handy.
Great to hear that ChippyBrady will be guest of honour too and proper ale in the stadium, class
FA Cup tie, Saturday 3pm kickoff, on the seaside, v a proper footballing side
all in all I can't wait.

Don't be.... Don't know how old you are, but most of us who were there must now be in our late 40's/early 50's and would love to be able to say we weren't there because we were too young :D !

I was only three, doubt I'd have enjoyed the full away day experience
but doesn't exactly make me young
