Although he scored today (and it was a good finish)- I thought the rest of his game was shite, especially in the 1st half. For £100k a week I would expect a bit more than that.

Never thought I'd hear myself say this, but we were better with ramsey - okay so he replaced diab yspudshirtwearingtwatto...but even so...he still needs the extra , extra touch on the ball before a pass
but he was better than diaby. no biggie I know....but I'm always slagging him off, so wanted to put that out there.....
Mind you all the team (except JW) were utter shyte first half everyone improved 2nd half...but we still lost.

If it wasn't for Walcott we just didn't look like scoring. When he drifted inside and basically partnered Giroud and was making runs through the middle he looked dangerous. Would be very interesting to see him in a 4-4-2.

would be interesting to see him play for man utd instead of the shit that we have become surrounded by disinterested losersnorthbank123 wrote:If it wasn't for Walcott we just didn't look like scoring. Last I heard the search party is still out looking for him as he hasn't been seen since scoring the goal

Apart from the exceptionally well taken goal, Walcott was the only source of danger down the right. How blunt would we be without him??

Re: Walcott - contract talks/which position is best etc?
shit or not we need him,he is our only hope right now, who'd have thought 7 years ago when we signed him as a 17 year old he'd now be the player we rely on even though he's only half the player he should be,how far we have slid

As blunt as a couple of tools made from super quality materials from the Ivory Coast and Montpellier. Yet still the Theo abuse continues.........Cockerill's chin wrote:Apart from the exceptionally well taken goal, Walcott was the only source of danger down the right. That how bad things are Im afraid- just because Theo is slightly better than average and looks like a world beater next to Gervinho and Giroud does not mean he is a good player.SteveO 35 wrote:As blunt as a couple of tools made from super quality materials from the Ivory Coast and Montpellier. To play up top as a lone striker (as he wants to) or to succeed in spite of this flawed system we play we need someone to contribute more than just a bit of pace and the occasional good finish. When you play one up top, the one up top has to be an exceptional player and have a complete all round game- passing, movement, skill and lethal finishing. Walcott has pace and can occasionally provide a good finish (though not consistently) but I dont see an awful lot creatively.
Sure he didnt play up top today but he has to bring more to his game than just pace. Its not just him thats bad for this though, there were worse culprits out there today.
I just think that he should have more to his game

He wants to play as a striker. Not a lone striker. It's Wenger who doesn't believe in anything other than a lone striker.
It's too easy to contain him as a lone striker. Jesus, there were games last year when van Persie was completely cancelled out, such is the ineptitude and predictability of our system. His big trait is his pace when he runs in behind, when he has both centre-backs and often the full-backs too able to track his runs then unsurprisingly he's easy to negate. A partner up front would give the other centre-half something to deal with and mean that a lot of the time Walcott would only need to get the run on one centre-half.

I agree- having 2 up top would make his pace more of an asset to the team but we all know thats not going to happen under ODL. With this being the case what is the point of paying him £100k a week and not making use of his main asset?northbank123 wrote:He wants to play as a striker. Not a lone striker. Its a waste of £100k a week because if he is going to play the lone role up front he has to have more to his game, which he quite clearly does not.
The whole Wengerball system is a pile of shit but we are stuck with it.
