Striker impact

Post by Nos89 »

Ba, Sturridge and now Remy all strikers who we could afford but didn't buy all scored on their debuts.
When was the last time we bought a striker to have such an immediate impact?

We could afford all three at the same time but he seems happy just to have 1 full time forward who 3 seasons ago was playing 2nd div french football and lets go for football reasons JVP best striker in the preimership .

Happy to have a thread on strikers, but if it becomes another Wenger bitch fest, you know where it is going.

Awaits 15 pages of "its not fair comparing him to Rvp", "he just needs time to adapt", "he's doing a job for the team", "the system doesn't suit him", "he doesn't get enough service".

Wenger's track record of the past 7 years with strikers is shocking. He hasn't unearthed a home grown one in over 16 years in the job and his signings have been shocking since the stadium move - Chamakh, Park, Vela, Gervinho, Giroud. Jesus, they are all fucking shite

That's the thing; every issue is in some way linked to Wenger so it's impossible to avoid mentioning him. A reflection of his dictatorial management of our club I suppose.

When the bloke has been around for 16 years its just impossible not to mention it. Its not like weve still got players left over from a previous manager (pity the poor fucker that eventually inherits Wenger's substandard shite sometime after 2017).

He's had 16 years to bring through a home grown striker. He appoints the scouts, he appoints the coaches / development officers. He's had a lifetime....and he's failed miserably. Nicking Anelka and exploiting differences in French and UK employment law doesn't fucking count either. How many wonderboys have we had from Aliadiere, Lupoli through to Jay Simpson and the latest bunch of Afobe, Aneke, Akpom etc. None of them will ever have 10% of the impact of a Wright or Henry

Another myth exposed about our so called conveyor belt of youth talent - name me the last striker we've produced of even average PL standard? They must all be fucking awful if he felt the need to sign the Camel, the Klingon and Le Chapman.

Ba I would have had in any event.

Sturridge I don't rate and I hate his attitude, and I don't know that much about Remy but bearing in mind he's (supposedly) been on many clubs' radars for years and has stayed rotting in Ligue 1 and behind Giroud in the national pecking order then I have reservations. But sad truth is they'd both of improved our options considerably.

Although, and I know everybody is bored of hearing this, our best finisher and most direct attacker is banished to the left wing.

Wenger,:censored: :censored: :censored: Wenger out :censored: :censored: :censored: Striker :blah: :blah: :blah: Wenger.

Does that do it then

On a serious note though 4-4-2 Poldi and Olivier Giroud 2/Walnutt. Santos as wide left, the Ox wide right. .

It can't be any worse than what we are doing now. 2 strikers is not a dirty word...it's 2.

I'm still hopeful David Villa or Llorente (Juve bound) will come in the last days of the window   - I mean, we're desperate for a striker, yet we've already passed up the chance to sign Ba, Remy and Sturridge, so we must surely be holding out for someone.... no? :? :?

Giroud made me want to punch myself in the face on Sunday. had to resort to green tea to calm myself down. utterly useless - and this from a guy who said he would come good!

wenger refuses to buy proven quality, as if it's a slight on his character. we need at least one striker who will score at least 20% of the chances he gets. Orbinho on Twitter said the average for premier league strikers is 1 goal from every 6 chances. Giroud is 1 in 8, ba is 1 in 4. go figure

*NOT A WENGER BITCH JUST A STATEMENT OF FACT* :D

to be honest I dont think any of the strikers the OP mentioned would be a solution to the problem, if wenger is going to persist with 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 we need a big fucker who will hold the ball up, and who is decent in the air. needs to score a high %age of headers. basically, someone like Giroud, but who can fucking finish :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

I know it is inevitable if we talk about the team we'll talk about the inadequacies. All I'm saying is keep in the context of what the OP posted and not just another 100+ pages of Wenger out. Apart from the obvious Wums this is what most people have done.

Bring back Radford and Kennedy I say! Now that was a proper pairing. 8)
