As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

is it him not spending..or the board not letting him?
Until we know that for sure we cannot make an informed decision.
Having said that, even with limited funds he has made some right proper shite signings over the last few years. He does also seem to be tactically inept at times. (most of the time this season).
I think that we could do with freshening things up but I think we do owe it to him to do it in a way that doesn't belittle the man. We should have more class than that and given what he has done for us in the past he deserves a bit better than that. A move upstairs would suit me and let a new man take the reigns.
Or just bring back David Dien and re-ignite Wenger's flame!
Absolute no
As he would still be the board's puppet pocking his nose in and interfering with the new manager.
The only thing I would let him do is a free reign to scour the world for youth talent.
I've now become so bitter and twisted that I do not want him to leave with any dignity and I certainly DO NOT want him to continue working for the club in any capacity. I want him hounded out of the club with his reputation in absolute tatters after being outed as the fraud and liar that he truely is. I hope the end is bloody and undignified

I wouldn't quite go that far. When he does go it needs to be completely - no director of football, ambassador for the club etc. Any new manager coming in needs to make his own mark - his own players, own scouts, own coaches. Having Wenger hanging around in the background passing messages between the board and the new bloke will never allow that to flourish properly. The worst possible outcome would be a Stojkovic type appointment endorsed by Wenger and under his guidance in some sort of director role. What possible good could come from maintaining a losing formula ?

I laughed at that. If it was a question at an interview, the answer would be, 'to maintain the cash returns to the yank.'

Agreed. Wenger is toxic. I don't want him to have any role at the club, ambassadorial or otherwise, once his time is up. (Please god make this happen soon). If he were to have even 0.00001% of an input into who the new manager would be it would be too much. JUST GO NOW.

I think he will be here as manager until at least next summer 2014 he has never broken a contract as he continously keeps saying. No one with the nuts to question what he does a owner that basically is like someone that has bought an overseas property & as long as someone is renting it out most of the time he is happy it's turning over money.
TV revenues have gone up from next year new sponsorship in place it's not rocket science guess what goes up the share price!
The .con last night had OGL stating that the team needs to believe in it's quality sorry the table tells the story 34 points from 22 games it is what it is im afraid.

Dont necessarily agree with the own scouts part steve o - I think that it is safe to assume that wenker is the one who issue's instructions to the scouts as to what he is looking for in a potential signing (age, position, availability etc) so I feel that the scouts are entitled to be given a chance to operate under new instructions from the incoming manager and if they continue to recommend the pile of shite like klingon, groud etc then they should be told to fcuk off
Btw I was in the wife's bad books yesterday - was watching the game with my two sons (aged 9 and 7) and of course I started referring to the c**t in charge as wenker and my eldest jumped on my use of words straight away. I tried to backpeddle out of trouble by saying that he had misheard me but to no avail cos the damage was already done - wife less than impressed

Spot on.
Steve Rowley was headhunted by Abramovich the manager has 100% the final say on all signings the scouts followed Kompany for the best part of a season pushed the manger to sign him the rest is history.Mata,Cahill both scouted he chose other players.

I'm developing an unhealthy fear of BBQ's because of you and I used to love them Someone askes me round to theirs for beer and burgers and I just burst into tears and run out of the room screaming.
Even the smell of charcoal gives me the sh1ts, it's a smell I associate with a contract extension.

You've ruined me....BASTARD
You'll learn to love them again mate. I'm trying to get those lovely chaps in the "I love AW" T-shirts to come along to keep you company.
ONE ARSENE WENGER....THERE'S ONLY ONE ARSENE WENGER.......(and repeat until 2017)
is it him not spending..or the board not letting him?
This has to be a wind up comment eh Spud? Because no-one, and I mean no-one can be that fucking stupid to still be asking that question when Wenger HIMSELF came out a week or so ago and said he had significant money to spend if he wanted to!!
Wenger deserves to have his head shaved, all his clothes taken off of him and kicked out of the door to fucking walk home to PSG after the embarrassment, lies and bullshit that he has continuously spewed over the last 7 years. The man is a disgrace, and deserves fuck all thanks when he goes because he has half destroyed our club and if allowed, will finish us off over the next year and then fuck off a multi-millionaire, leaving Arsenal a mid table club for the next few years.
Fuck off Wenger, you lying ballbag!
