Striker impact

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Bring back Radford and Kennedy I say! Now that was a proper pairing. 8)

When was the last time we bought a striker to have such an immediate impact?

Ian Wright.

We could afford all three at the same time but he seems happy just to have 1 full time forward who 3 seasons ago was playing 2nd div french football and lets go for football reasons JVP best striker in the preimership .

madness
:banghead:
Awaits 15 pages of "its not fair comparing him to Rvp", "he just needs time to adapt", "he's doing a job for the team", "the system doesn't suit him", "he doesn't get enough service".

Wenger's track record of the past 7 years with strikers is shocking. He hasn't unearthed a home grown one in over 16 years in the job and his signings have been shocking since the stadium move - Chamakh, Park, Vela, Gervinho, Giroud, Jesus, they are all fucking shite
I agree SteveO but I think you are being a little bit harsh on the son of God as he hasn't had any chances to show us what he can do yet. Bit early to be crucifying him, isn't it?  Mind you, it looks like it's going to need a miracle or two to resurrect our aim of finishing top 4 or to qualify for the next round of the CL.

We should have got Ba, he spent weeks giving interviews on how he wanted to join us but still we did not react!! Giroud is a good striker but I would see him more of a back up to a world class forward especially as we only seem to be able to play one formation (even though it fails continually) under the frenchman.

I would like to see us splash some cash on Llorente now as he would fit the bill perfectly for a lone forward who scores regularly. But as we are a cheap side these days a move for Hooper (Celtic) or Austin (Burnley) is more realistic!!

Whoa, calm down there, getting a bit carried away with yourself....

We couldn't possibly compete with the spending power of Norwich. :D

Oh come on, we are signing no-one because Wenger believes in this squad!! After seven years of failure and Arsenal having their worst season ever under Wenger so far, we don't need anyone.

Words fail me (they don't but I don't want to get the thread locked)!! :blah:

Thank you, that's who I thought it was too! I couldn't remember if chamakh was credited for reina throwing the ball into the net on his EPL debut. :)

Pretty sure Adebayor scored on his debut. Also remember Nasri bagging on his debut against West Brom I think.

Also still plenty of time for Joel Campbell to score on his debut :barscarf:
