Taking pictures/videos at games
Re: Taking pictures/videos at games
i once saw two japanese tourists in a Safeway near my house. one took a photo of the other holding an orange. that's all I have to say on this matter.
not sure how much it contributes to the discussion, but it makes my feelings clear.

Youtube views and facebook likes.
The constant filming is not as annoying as the people that get up for food DURING a match.
ffs it's 2 hours. Are you a baby? Must you be constantly eating? Bring a sandwich from home!

The only acceptable scenario is taking a picture or two before the game has started of new stadiums or new teams we're playing. Once the game's kicked off all cameras should be put away.
Another thing that pisses me off are people that laugh when we've just lost to a big rival and are weirdly in high spirits. Now i'm not talking about laughing about the game but completely irrelevant stuff not related to football. That shit's the last thing on my mind after losing.

If your in central London it's a nice day and your bored go down the embankment to Cleopatras needle on a weekday morning and watch for the scene to unfold.
Withing mins a coachload of Japanese Tourists will stop ,and they will have a very very organised and efficient 5 mins of camera action and then back on the coach and away.
They have no interest in the needle ,its just another tick of the box on the UK in a day Tour ,part of Europe in a week.
They do London in a morning b4 doing statford upon avon in the evening ,then back to heathrow and on .
They do not live their lives they film it ,its beyond me but its very asian ,Koreans,Chinese, are very similar.

Gotta laugh or cry......and tbf we are used to getting beaten by big rivals. Wasn't that upset on Sunday, a mixture of resignation at losing, and relief we did not suffer another OT humiliation after the 1st 15 minutes.MM99 wrote:The only acceptable scenario is taking a picture or two before the game has started of new stadiums or new teams we're playing. Talking about the game is fine. That's what brings people together at football. But honestly this example I gave was 90 minutes of non-stop natter about the sort of shit people share on Facebook. When you're sat there watching a tense CL game against top opposition and have shelled out upwards of £60, I just don't get the whole piece about speaking about work. I have to say work is the last subject I ever want to talk about when I'm not there so to listen to who is about to make partner, and you'll never guess who has handed their notice in and do you know how much so-and-so earns? No, and I couldn't give a fuck which is why I've come to watch a football match. If I wanted to catch up on all the office gossip I've stayed in the office or gone out for a drink to the pub after work.QuartzGooner wrote:Kind of half and half about that SteveO.
Think there is going to be a certain amount of talking about the game during the game; whether the referee has go it right, should we make a substitution, who's on the bench? etc.
As for talking about others things there is going to be a bit of it quite naturally.
But I agree, it is odd and can be a bit irritating when people are having a whole conversation about unrelated things during a game. Suddenly they will pipe up with some comment about the game then go back to their chat!
Had to suffer some loudmouth last season going on about how much cash he earns and what he spends on cars, then go on a rant about how Arteta was a waste of money and we should have stuck with Denilson!
Some people are just strange.
But it is not the opera and the crowd does not need to be in silence.
Nobody's saying football should be like the opera, but does it need to be 90 minutes of running commentary about work and family?

Use to get freebies in east upper, block D (?).
Saff Africans tickets. They were only interested in top four games and finals.
Use to get sneers every time I rolled up to support. Got told to sit down and control myself sometimes.
Most people around me were tapping their phone keypads and smoking big cigars, talking money and ok yar.
In fact, the ticket holders I knew were Man Utd supporters.
wankers. But thanks for the freebies.

iPad's seem to be slowly becoming the latest craze to hit our ground, holding your phone up to record / take a photo of the game is bad enough, but taking an iPad along with you to a game of football is something I don't think i'll ever get my head around. Thankfully the culprits usually only turn up for one game then replaced by someone else the week after.

Re: Taking pictures/videos at games
We've had this on here before.
I am a season ticket holder, I dont take videos, I dont use an ipad at footy, but I do take photos. Thats my way of enjoying the game and it doesn't spoil my enjoyment of it. It also means I get some photos of things that are otherwise missed and I like that.
I dont leave my seat during the game to get food (yuk!) or a drink and I stay until the end.
Each to his own!
(awaits backlash.......)

And I knew you would so I replied!

Re: Taking pictures/videos at games
Think I have to go against the majority on this one. I'd never spend ages taking photographs of the match but I do sometimes, if the atmosphere is class, get the video recording. I don't hold it up to me face like because I don't actually care about filming the pitch but I quite like recording a bit of the chanting/ atmosphere and when I get home I'll often play it back and think "aye, that away day was class". Normally the videos get deleted soon after like and I almost never upload them anywhere but like I say, I enjoy capturing a bit of the atmosphere and since its just for a minute and the phone is by my side it doesn't in any way affect my enjoyment of the game.
The one exception to this was Wigan on Saturday when I had my phone out when Fletcher scored to put us 2-1 up (wasn't filming, I was texting the lass as it happens
) and my first reaction was to fling the phone in the air, drunkenly try (and fail) to catch it and now I have to go and get my screen replaced

I really don't get the whole film my life thing, happens as much in concerts. Read somewhere that it's an inconcious way of making the event about you. It's a reflection of the selfish all me society that's been stablished.

Re: Taking pictures/videos at games
Kind of similar...I was a Yes Gig (their 35th Anniversay Tour UK 2004) and this bloke next to me was recording it (Audio) he had 2 high res mics...he held one, his mate the other...anyway - at the end of a particular fave song of mine I'm clapping and whistling etc...and he nudges me and goes "Sshhhh" with his finger to his lips...So I just ignore him and carry on....a few songs later I'm doing the same (basically enjoying myself in the £60 seat I'd paid for)...he 'Prods' me really hard..and says the same thin and glares...having had a few before the gig I grab his mic and the recorder (a small high grade MP3 type thing) and throw them to the front of the stage he goes to grab me - so we end up 'scuffling' his mate tries to join in - whereupon - this burley bouncer grabs him - and we all get hauled out into the foyer...I explain what's happened..they sling him and his mate out...and I get given a back stage pass by one of the road crew who is near by.
What a *word censored* - so I'm gonna sit there meek and quiet having paid £60 for the ticket - hotel £120 - train fare $70 ..so he can bootleg it - and flog copies and make loads of Wonga...Yeah Right...
