Re: Hazard kicks ballboy and is sent off
OR he is a competitive sportsman who was understandably pissed off at some jumped-up twat attention-seeking and being a cheating wanker. The problem with having kids of that age being ball-boys is that they lose their innocence and are more liable to do stupid things than 14 year olds. He's basically an adult for fucks sake. Could you imagine if Arsenal had a couple of blokes off this forum being ball-boys for a huge game?
Had the ballboy done that in a local league in Swansea he would have got seven shades of shit kicked out of him, believe me. Instead he got a nudge to the ribs whilst Hazard prodded the ball out from under him. It was because Hazard was a professional footballer that he didn't hurt him.

Re: Hazard kicks ballboy and is sent off
Having watched the footage 10 times today, I now think Hazard was trying to kick the ball from under the ball boy rather than kicking the ballboy, which I thought last night.
That said, he should not do that because of the obvious risk involved to the ball boy.
The ball boy is a cocky chav, also seems too old to be a ball boy. His parents should teach him how to act with more grace, considering he is in line to inherit a fortune.
Hazard did deserve the red card, and should get banned for three to six games rather than the season long ban I wanted last night, just to set a precedent that in such situations the player should wait for the referee to act.

Hazard should be nowhere near a ballyboy, remonstrating with him, touching him, anythimg. Its that simple.northbank123 wrote:OR he is a competitive sportsman who was understandably pissed off at some jumped-up twat attention-seeking and being a cheating wanker. Now the ballboy, who got assaulted is getting called all sorts for doing the sum of feck all. You couldn't make it up.
A "sportsman"? Denegrates the name making fuckin feeble excuses for him after conduct like that. What he did was wrong. Local league, Prem League, any league. Wrong. The fact hes a "competitive sportsman", a "professional" earning millions, makes it all the worse.

DB10Gooner - Just about big enough to hold the ball, crowd gives him huge applause for being such a gallant sport.northbank123 wrote: Could you imagine if Arsenal had a couple of blokes off this forum being ball-boys for a huge game?
Flash - Sits in the corner, too lazy to fetch the ball, sacked at half time. Complaisn that he is unable to do the job "using a remote control, why wasn't I told that before hand?"
Basil - Sacked at half time for taking photos whilst on duty.
GoonerSid - Five minutes into the game gets into a furious row with someone in the crowd and smacks him, sacked.
Augie - Similar, but somehow manages to refain from punching, keeps job.
BarrieCuda - Attentive, but strangely delayed in everything he does by five hours. Finally leaves the ground at 3AM.
Herd - Turns up with 60 mates all ready for a ruck. Club prevent him from taking his place at the kick off.
HighburyJD - Feints at the kick off from being so close to Wenger. Taken to hospital and an envelope marked "Arsene - S.W.A.L.K." is found in his coat pocket.
HasKads - So busy salivating over the players' thighs that he forgets his job, sacked at half time.
G88ner - Diligent in his duties, performs superbly, but it sadly all goes wrong in the 89th minute when his pet ferret escapes, runs onto the pitch, and punctures the ball. Sacked.
Reg Niseth - Turns up early, but is nowhere to be found at the kick off. Reports of him seen walking round Highbury with a Black Scarf are not confirmed.
Olgit - Initially applauded by the crowd for using a zimmer frame to get to the ball, but sacked at half time on health and safety grounds.
IU4GN - Sacked prior to kick off for attempting to chat up a ball girl with a foul mouthed poem.
BrazilianGooner - Told to sit in the stands. His failure to fit into either category of ballboy or ballgirl prevents him from being assigned a place.

Re: Hazard kicks ballboy and is sent off
The ballboy was right next to the pitch and lying on top of the ball. It's not like Hazard waded into the crowd to get it back and decked someone, this 17 year-old's job was to give the ball back and not only was he delayed it he was actually lying on top of it.armchair supporter wrote:Hazard should be nowhere near a ballyboy, remonstrating with him, touching him, anythimg. Bit of perspective here:
- In a blind rage Carragher launched a coin into the crowd that could have done serious damage to any of the innocent spectators (including women and kids) in the vicinity: 3 game ban, move along.
- Trying to recover the ball from a 17-year old whose only job is to return it but is instead lying on top of it, Hazard makes very minor contact with him that was never going to leave any lasting damage: ban him for the season, police charges, etc.
I don't like the Chavs more than anyone else but the reaction to this is a joke.

Re: Hazard kicks ballboy and is sent off
Little shit was time wasting all game, he threw the ball over a player earlier in the game too, he had it coming. What's a ball boys job? to get the ball as quick as he can back to the teams.
Re: Hazard kicks ballboy and is sent off
I dont get why people are making excuses for Hazard. So fuck if the lad was timewasting?. Its not like millionaire footballers dont cheat, timewaste behave like jumped up, overpaid, overated tools?
Why the outrage at the lad when it was Hazard who pushed him over and kicked him is beyond me.
If that was a junior gunner would you feel the same?

Re: Hazard kicks ballboy and is sent off
If this was ball boy at the Grove I'd have been pretty p*ss*d off if, in the circumstances, he had returned the ball quickly. Can't really expect them to be neutral after all. The officials should be taking this into account in deciding how long to add at the end anyway, and Hazard ended up wasting far more time than the kid/young adult.
Have to say that I can never understand players desperately trying to grab the ball off the keeper when they've just scored late on and pushing for an equaliser/winner. For the fuss it causes they'd be better off just getting back to the half way line as soon as....

Re: Hazard kicks ballboy and is sent off
What so because he's a millionaire then he shouldn't get frustrated? As I said most people in Hazard's place would have lost their cool more than he did. In reality he barely even touched the little prick. If you're going to talk about privilege etc then what about the fact that the lad's dad is (apparently) on the board at Swansea and he's clearly from a well-off family?
To be honest I'd like to think that we wouldn't employ 17 year olds to cheat like that. I have the misfortune of knowing a few Swansea fans and they've all said that they were totally embarrassed by the ball-boy. I don't judge people based on what club they support, so if an Arsenal ball-boy acted in the same way under the same circumstances I'd be fucking annoyed. On that note, would you be as outraged if Michu had done the same to a Chelsea ball-boy? Or would we instead be hearing about how it's typical of Chelsea that even the ball-boys cheat?

Re: Hazard kicks ballboy and is sent off
If it was a child I'd be outraged (junior gunner or Swansea ball boy) but the "victim" (which I use loosely in this case) was - as Flash has put it - a "ball-MAN" (armchair supporter wrote:I dont get why people are making excuses for Hazard. In any case, it wasn't exactly an assault. It wasn't half as bad as I'd expected based on media reaction - I envisaged a Cantona-style kung-fu assault on a poor, innocent 10 year old

Hazard was a prat, and was rightly sent-off. 3 match ban. Job done.

Eden Hazard and Chelsea have launched a new campaign "Kick children out of football".
