THE WENGER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

I predict a march around the streets of Islington :D

If he gets the Virtual Trophy the clamour for him to stay will be unbearable and will be added to by the fact that Real and PSG will both be looking for new managers next season

A very good read, thought provoking and well reasoned.

What riles me is how he's referred to as an "economist" throughout. He got a degree in Economics early 1970s, and since then has done fuck all in that sphere and has worked in football (as he so often reminds us) as a player and then manager. I know plenty of people who have recently graduated from a very good university with strong Economics degrees - I wouldn't call any of them "economists" or suggest they are able to give authoritative analysis on any particular subject.

Other clubs must be laughing at Wenger and his three years' study forty years ago lauding it over everyone else about economics in football whilst they employ Finance Directors and/or CEOs who have a lifetime's experience of studying economics and business at top institutions and phenomenal and extensive practical experience, and have spent all day every day for donkeys' years doing the job.
