As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

i ask that because he was always questioned here in brazil, i guess for not having 'our' style of a winger, since we mostly have dribblers and runners out wide. no discussion that he could hit a football like few, but was his overall game THAT good to earn all this england legend status? all my memories of him are spoiled because i fucking hated that man united team
He mostly earned his 'legend' status for England for the important goals he got like the one against Greece in the 93rd minute from a free kick which meant England qualified for the world cup, as well as getting a huge number of caps. It wouldn't be really fair to judge him on the qualities that a Ronaldo type winger would have as he isn't that type of player but for a few years he was probably one of the best strikers of the ball in terms of passing ability, free kicks, corners and crosses, especially at club level when he had good strikers who would get on the end of them. Some people like to downplay his talent because of their hate of the 'Beckham brand' but in all honesty that's just clever marketing by Beckham and shouldn't detract from his footballing ability.
Spot on assessment.
+1,the boys got the lot,my favourite non Arsenal player, his ability should never be underestimated.
who said anything about being worried? - maybe now that we've shown we'll bend over and lube up for Fergie to take our prized asset, he's sent Beckham over to see if there's anyone else worth taking

Do you think that he randomly took photo with Poldi and Jack, that's all in Fergie's plan, here you go Sir, these are the ones who you want.
in all seriousness who the hell sticks their thumbs up anymore? must be for the Junior Gunners mag. don't mind him being there just to teach us how to cross a ball as mentioned earlier in this thread. Please give us some decent corners

Personally I veer towards thinking he was more overrated.
He had an extremely limited set of attributes imo. Even in open play he'd stop the ball dead at every opportunity and turn it into a virtual set-piece. Boring as fuck to watch but effective. But he did absolutely maximise that limited skill-set – through hard work & also just by knowing what he was good at and how best to utilise that in practical terms - so I give him credit for that. In the past 8 years we've had several players who were infinitely more naturally gifted than him but haven't come close to achieving what he did in his career combined. Arshavin, Rosicky, Diaby, Reyes to name a few all could have great careers with Beckham's attitude.
This is the spot on assessment for me. ^^
He is a hate figure for many football fans because of the media whore thing, but by all accounts he is supposed to be quite a decent lad under it all. Would offer us very little nowdays to be honest.
He does look good in that training garb, the suits have missed a trick here as someone already said all those shirt sales etc...... on a more serious note l doubt he could a job now for us however having him around can only be good as his work ethic, commitment can hopefully rub off on some of the workshy, uninterested players.
