He needs to be put down, he is utterly useless.

I disliked him when he first joined and then gradually started to think he was better (thought his positioning and anticipation was good, I was wrong), until I watched him more carefully and came to the conclusion that he is pure shit.

He is ridiculously slow, gets beaten 1vs1 far too easily for a 'top class' centre back, cant head for shit and doesnt fly into important last ditch tackles. With all that said my biggest issue is once he has been beaten he then shows no desire to try and get back and stop the attack, he just ambles back in the hope that it will break down and he will have gotten away with it once again.

"Captain" Vermaelen should have cleared it before Mertesacker had the opportunity to fuck up blocking it. Mertesacker is undoubtedly poor at times but Vermaelen has been on a steady decline for at least 18 months now. Those attempts are clearances are becoming the norm.

True that TV has been shocking for a while now and that he should take most of the stick for that goal (I for one don't blame Sagna as a slip can happen to anyone), but there is absolutely no excuse for turning your back on a guy about to shoot (unless you're gay ) - especially when you're supposed to be a defender!!
