Natalie's bongo's were great again this year transfer thread

It's all a load of Cannonballs in here! This is the virtual Arsenal pub where you can chat about anything except football. Be warned though, like any pub, the content may not always be suitable for everyone.

Another shit transfer window and can anyone say they were surprised, honestly?

We've signed a left back because our first choice is injured for a month and our back up player is someone Wenger wasted 6m on less than 2 years ago

So our assault on the Virtual Trophy, Champions League (what a laugh) and FA Cup will see the only backup strikers to Walcott and Le Chapman, being the Forehead and a bunch of kids, we still don't have a single CDM to play in case Arteta is out (and he is wasted in the position to begin with) and we still have a load of shite between the sticks.

Well done Ivan, Dick and the Self Harmer. I'm glad all that 'working very hard day and night' paid off.

Only when we miss out on the Virtual Trophy that I am now beginning to detest more and more with every passing season will we see any change at our club.

Still, a nice tidy profit for Stan again over the course of this year.....and in the words of RedAction "sod off Jabba". We don't need Russia's richest man because as we all know if the Self Harmer had 100m he would give it back to him and anyway there aren't any players of top top quality around to improve the squad anyway

Hope and pray that we finish outside the top 4 and I don't care who finishes above us - we have had the dire performances and we have had the embarrassing results so we cannot say that we were not warned but as per usual we decided to ignore them and we deserved every bit of punishment that comes our way

Can I also say that if some of you "arsene knows" sheep get plenty of stick from scum fans when they finish above us then just remember to get down and pray at wenker's feet again and everything will be ok   :banghead: :banghead:

I see where you're coming from, its difficult. I will never actively want us to lose matches; as I've said before I can't fucking stand it when folk come on here cheering opposition goals etc......BUT, the 'Champions League' is the be-all and end-all mentality of our club and its flock really gets on my tits. FFS - I went the first 20 years of my life as a Gooner without it and another 7 or 8 under GG and managed to survive the experience. I don't think the sun fell out of the sky during that time, I don't remember the club going into financial meltdown and I don't think any of the 35k+ people around me genuinely supporting the club (as opposed to coming along for the glory boy tourist ride of the CL) gave it a second thought.

The competition and its current format is designed only to make money for the clubs involved and UEFA with their corporate sponsorships - long drawn out group stages in any sport's competitions are proven to switch off supporters and so it is proving with half empty stadia throughout Europe for the Group games. £52+ to watch Montpellier and Olympiacos (for the 57th time) when its already on Sky and there will be a home game either immediately before or afterwards......no thanks.

The modern day CL rewards failure - 4th is the new 1st. I didn't have a major problem with the runners up being allowed in because the competition benefitted from having two top teams from major leagues but where does it all end. One day it'll be top six or top eight to guarantee the self interest of the so called major clubs in Europe. We have built our budgets and financial structure around finishing 4th as the financial rewards for finishing 1st are barely any greater (about £2.5m in PL prize money and we would need to invest c. £50m to compete for the title).

I find it hard to get excited about a competition that our owners have no intention of making us competitive enough to compete for and where the wealth that it generates is solely for the benefit of one man who refuses to reinvest any of the proceeds into improving a desperately depleted squad

Sober, cogent post Mr SteveO.
Impossible to argue against.
UEFA Cup, Cup Winner's Cup + European Cup worked for me.
Only trouble is all the potential "top" little bitches want to play in the Champs League...

Absolutely and I don't dispute that - what is really concerning though is that I am not even angry and the anger has just made way for the acceptance and resignation of what we are.......a wealthy club with a small two bob club aspirations
As hard as it is to entertain those thoughts, what really gets my blood boiling is the refusal, still, of so many people to accept that wenger is a huge part of the problem  I don't need for these people to back down so I can say I told you - BDB and MM99 have traditionally been two of the more positive and pro wenger supporters on here (in my opinion anyway) but even they have been critical of late and nobody is gloating at them for it. The part that saddens me is the one's who refuse to acknowledge what is happening in front of them cos imo nothing will change as long as these people continue to back wenker so if misery rains down on them from a great height then maybe it is cos they deserve it.
