You've put my exact thoughts into words, here. I just feel so...well, I don't feel anything about Arsenal anymore. The only enjoyment I get is from Wenger scrambling to explain himself post-match after an embarrassing loss, or a nice bit of play from Jack.

That is it, I just watch Arsenal out of habit on telly now, and I have no intention of going back to the Emirates again whilst Wenger is in charge.
nail, head. gone are the days when id shit myself every time we played now its just a roll of the eyes as we lose another or concede another or miss another.Wenker has cunningly created his own empire where he and only he will rule,we are fucked now and into the next few years :(

So the answer is to play him less and buy another left back instead. Wenger logic.
I hope the PR spin was not lost on the fans.
Gibbs initially out for 3 weeks, he buys a left back = he does not trust Santos.
Morning after, Gibbs now out for 6 weeks, but Wenger has bought a left back = what a stroke of genius.
Sad to hear some of the comments about wishing ill will to our season, we can't be like that, it's poisonous.
Get behind the team and see where we end, only 4 points from 4th and a team with currently only 0.5 strikers.

Wenger simpy has to go. This situation with him running everything and being answerable to seemingly nobody should never have happened at a big club. It is to Arsenals shame that they have let it happen to them. Although who are these people running our club? They are nobody to me!

The saddest thing though is perhaps the conduct of some Arsenal fans. How can anyone ''supporting'' Arsene be willing to fight other fans to defend his name, after all the disrespect he has shown us? Oh dear oh dear, this really is tragic.

Wenger is just an individual that has played a part in the history of the club like many many others. On his own, without help from other very gifted individuals, time has shown that he really isnt that special.
Fantastic post. I agree with every single word. Even on Wednesday night I could not bring myself to so much as clap when we scored, let alone jump out of my seat. The fact that some Arsenal supporters think it is acceptable to assault other supporters simply because they do not show blind faith to Wenger is shameful. In their eyes one is not an Arsenal supporter if you do not fall at your feet to Wenger. Leaving the game on Wednesday I saw two stand offs (inside the ground) with Arsenal fans coming to near blows. What a legacy Wenger is leaving us. I loathe everything he stands for.
Well said both of you.
My admiration of Wenger has been turned into disgust at his arrogance, his treating the fans as fools and taking us all for a ride - the fact that the board allow him to ( or most probably given Hillwood's disdain for the average fan) expect him to treat us like shit, instead of valued fans, now leaves me with nothing but sadness at the way I now feel about my club.

It is just sad really isnt it:

in my eyes a win is now just another false dawn , a loss is no longer a shock and a draw is normally just something salvaged....i never thought i would see my beloved clubs results in such a boring emotionless way....please just go now Arsene and speak out against Kroenke once you have.

i think Arsene has taken me back to the mid -eighties, i have no idea each week which team is going to turn up, what the result will be etc. despite a mix of internationals (then woodcock, Anderson, etc) mixed with experience and young blood.

one stat this year - after 24 games, we have only put back to back league wins together twice. TWICE.

not even a run of three league wins in a row.

so i'm going to dig out my yellow Pringle and get a wet look perm....

I would suggest that this is not totally the case.
From the vibe I get some supporters are pissed off not because we are showing dissent at Wenger neccessairily but because we are showing dissent inside the ground. I reckon those who confronted me and who assaulted the lads holding the other banner were doing so because they believe that a united front should always be shown at aways in particular and that no form of protest or negative banner should be shown inside the ground. And they are going to put a stop to it. End of.

I would even go as far as to say (although I dont know for certain) that some of those are not exactly overjoyed at where Arsenal are or are headed.

Now I totally disagree with this view and feel that as an Arsenal supporter it is my duty to show my dissent and protest as I see fit. At this point that is showing banners at a match. But it would be interesting to see how these guys react if/when something happens outside the Emirates on a matchday.

Anyway having said that there are still those who feel the sun shines out of Wengers arse and he can do no wrong. They still seem intent on blaming "the board" when its obvious to everyone with an eye in their head that Wenger has control at Arsenal and is totally, totally culpable. The only "blame!" I would apportion the board is allowing Wenger to have this deathly grip on the club, allowing him to continually dilute the quality of a once fantastic squad. And allowing him to "fail" in every way except financially.

You have certainly hit on what I feel in part here. I have problems accepting such banners within the ground - certainly during the time the team are playing - although also am happy to bite my tongue to an extent at the same time because, as you say, I would also consider myself one who feels that everyone is entitled to their view however much I might disagree with it.

As you also say, outside the ground might be different and easier to accept for some.

As you have probably surmised, I am still on the other side of the fence than your good self but it does not and has never, meant that I believe the sun shines out of Arsene's derriere. There remains, imo, a vast range of views from one extreme to the other.

I can understand fans not wanting protests to damage the team on the pitch. But firstly, no chance would the banner at Wigan have made the tiniest difference to any player. And secondly, it is the old point that it's fine to chant "one Arsene Wenger" is fine even though it represents a sentiment an increasingly small number of fans hold, but showing dissent isn't allowed because it's not how everyone feels?

I can see both side but my view is one I've always held and that is slag players/managers/tactics/shirtcolours [of one's own team] in the pub on the train in the car nowadays online etc but at the ground during the game try and cheer them on. I have never been 100% behind everythign arsenal at anygiven time but when they're playing I've cheered and done my bit, I hope. Positive Atmosphere's do have a positive effect more than not. That's how I see it anyway...

I would be persuaded more if we were talking full-scale angry protests creating a terrible atmosphere in the ground. But strangely enough chanting against the manager's decisions at Villa wasn't condemned but a few guys quietly holding up a bannner risks hurting the team? Really?

I think there are still so many people (not saying you're one!) who can't distinguish between anti-Arsene and anti-Arsenal.

I enjoyed reading that armchair.
I have to wonder what happens to the boo boys at matches?
There has been plenty of h/t and/or f/t booing at home, and it is fairly regular if things have not gone as expected on the pitch. Not just from 5 or 6 supporters from the sound of it either.
Do the supporters that boo get into fisticuffs with the blokes around them? I doubt it. So why get so bleeding upset about a banner? Hypocrisy?

I agree it's not 'full scale' angry protests as you say but still negative I think. As you hint I'm hopefully not one of those who can't distinguish between the two 'antis' but it's still negative to protest and 'during play' I think negativity is not necessary to get the point across.

I appreciate the protest is toward Arsene and not the team but still it is negative and I just don't comprehend that particular mentality when it comes to Arsenal being on the pitch. heck I've slagged players off and also whined about Arsene's (and predecessors) decision making as any fan does but I believe there is a time to do so and that time is not during play.

but that is the only time we have Arsene and the Board's attention.

we pay our ticket prices like anyone else, and we're entitled to show our displeasure at the poor coaching and management we're paying for at the club right now.

what should we do ? - sit on our hands until we're bottom half and the rest of you finally agree with us ?

Yes mate, that's the inference. Unfortunately, that is much of the prevailing view at The Arsenal these days.

Keep quiet
and
pay up
