Worst Arsenal 11 of all time

Post by This Is The Daybreak »

The worst/most hated players you've seen don the red and white

For me since 1993

GK-Vince Bartram

DR-Nelson Vivas
DL-Ashley Cole (captain)
DC-Pascal Cygan
DC-Igors Stepanovs

MR-Jimmy Carter
ML-Eddie McGoldrick
MC-John Jensen
MC-Junichi Inamoto (anyone saw Blackburn in the Worthless Cup in 2001?, besides he was utterly pointless!)

FC-Francis Jeffers
FC-Kaba Diawara

Sub1-Richard Wright
Sub2-Sathis Tavlaridis
Sub3-Emmanuel Eboue (Lets face it, he's a bit of an embarasment)
Sub4-Glenn Helder
Sub5-Julio Baptista

I'd sling Chris Kiwombia in there instead of Jeffers, at least Jeffers scored a couple of times against such mighty sides like, erm, Farnborough.....but I guess they all count.

Would agree with most of your choices there apart from Richard Wright - he wasn't that bad, not great, but not bad either.

Would add Mark Flatts, David "baggage handler" Hillier, Lee Chapman and Davor Suker (It was a shame about Suker, because we got him way past his impressive peak and he never really settled in...)

I never hated an Arsenal player past or present until Cashley. Not even Le Sulk - I thought he was a silly twat being led around by his nose by his scumbag, money obsessed brother and cousin but I never hated him. :(

By fuck I detest Cashley though....

MC-Junichi Inamoto (anyone saw Blackburn in the Worthless Cup in 2001?, besides he was utterly pointless!)
Can't agree with this

How can anyone claim that a player who, simply by his nationality, opened up an entirely new merchandising market for us, was utterly pointless. We earnt an absolute bloody fortune in the far east when we signed him. You don't think he was signed by Wenger on the basis of his ability do you
He was signed by the club and used occasionally to increase our income from the sale of shirts etc.

Far from utterly pointless

Maybe time is a great healer but there are a few listed that I wouldnt have in my team - cygan, stepanovs, mcgoldrick(not everybodys cup of tea I know) but especially faxe jensen who was def a cult hero during his stay with us 8)

Will also agree with DB re hillier and chapman(the wife beater) as I hated both :x

Should also say that towards the end of his time with us seaman totally pissed me off - arrogant *word censored*

I know Cygan was an awkward looking git who would be more at home carrying a hod than playing football, but for one season at least we had a better defensive record with him in the team than Sol Campbell.

Make of that what you will.

I actually liked Cygan. As a player he was great in his distribution and always looked calm. His problem was that you knew he would have a 'mad minute' in every game. Unfortunately it often cost us a goal(boro at home 5-3).
He must have something though as he was player of the year at Villareal in his first season
And for the record, he's a really nice bloke!

Odd shaped head though, always reminded me of Kryten from Red Dwarf.

Ok Jensen may be somewhat of a cult hero now. Who can forget his curler into the top corner against QPR on a freezing cold December (despite losing 3-1 that day!)

But his passing was atrocious, so was his shooting, The North Bank upper saw a lot of the ball when he was around.

He worked hard but so would I if I played for Arsenal, I still wouldn't be much of a footballer.

Funny to think that David Hillier has more championship winning medals than Gascgoine, Hoddle, Waddle etc :D..attrocious player, probably should replace Inamoto thinking about it now.

Great to see McGoldrick so well represented.

He was fucking useless.
