Luton in a League cup game 1970. George Graham scored the only goal after 20 minutes in front of about 25,000. Bob Wilson kept out about 3 efforts from Malcolm Macdonald (saw his first game for us - home defeat against Bristol City and his last - draw at the Bridge) There were hordes of Arsenal supporters in the Oak Road end, result being bricks and coins going both ways and several fights breaking out. Think we lost to Palace in a later round. Happy days.

1993, away to Standard Liege, 7-0 win :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf:

Had a prematch pint in the pub next to the stadium, there were other Arsenal fans as well, so it was okay in the beginning, but after a while the atmosphere became somewhat hostile and me and my mate were threatened to leave (I was wearing my Arsenal shirt and my Cologne scarf. At the time there was some 'friendship' going on between Standard yobs and some from Lever'scum' [one of Cologne's main rivals], so this might have aded to the sudden hostility). After we left, we were followed by 10 or so of their sissy lot, who cowardly attacked us, nicked our scarves but left us alone when one Cop appeared around the corner... After the match the police closed bridge so we couldn't get back to our car for a while and had to wait for 30 minutes or so. Lots of sirens and police in riot gear, some English cars in the parking lot had their windows and rearview mirrors kicked in... - Liege twats :cussing:

I went to that one and had to suffer one of those coach journeys from hell. Sat next to a 25 stone chap who just scoffed food for hours. Put me off the Travel Club for life!!

Not sure what my first Arsenal away game was (other than SAFC v Arsenal obviously). Was in the Arsenal end for a friendly at Rangers a few years ago (I think Juan might have played  ), Arsenal won comfortably. Around that time I was also in the Arsenal end for their FA Cup game at Newcastle (finished 1-1, IIRC it was a week or so after Bergkamp's wonder goal against them in the league, I think the cup game was merely blessed by an Edu goal which was roundly celebrated). Not sure which of those games were first. Since then I've also done Roma away (dull game but Arsenal won on penalties), Barcelona away (had to go in Barca end and managed to go undetected until the ref became a twat) and Milan away (bit of a disappointment but good pre match atmosphere). So not a bad number of Arsenal away games for a Sunderland fan

First away game spuds away late 1970s testermonial for one of theirs, paid at turnstiles ,nasty atmosphere, loads of arsenal kicking off all over the place after the game ,hated the spuds then and still hate them as much now some things never change.

Don't know if this counts but first Arsenal game not at Highbury was 93 Cup final replay :barscarf: :barscarf:

For those of u who think we were formed in 1996 we won 2-1 in ET. Ian Wright Wright Wright scored the first goal and they equalised in the second half. Andy Linighan powered in header in last minute of extra time with a broken hooter :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf:

Apparently the '93 Cup Final replay program is worth quite a lot of money.

Arsenal 0 West Ham 2 - FAC Quarter Final - was mine. Rain sodden and lots of fighting all over the North Bank. Didn't even mind that we lost. I was hooked!!

Hate to break it to you MK, but I reckon the evidence points to that being a home game - unless you are a hammer infiltrator
Oh fuck..... !

In my defense it did have a feel of being an away fan given how many west ham were in the north bank....

My first away game without parental supervision was the cup replay with Blackburn after we drew 0-0 at the emirates (2007 maybe?). Baptista missed about 8 chances and Benni McCarthy beat Fawlty Manuel from some ridiculous angle after 89 minutes and we lost 1-0.

the experience didn't put me off though, just readied me for what usually happens haha

Thanks for the clip Chips brings back memories for me that one ,I think I've done the story of that day on here before though ,was a very interesting day and the scariest birthday I've ever had .
Note to self was dont wear the sheepskin your dad bought you to a land that fashion forgot !
I think my first away might well have been WHL 1971 ,but on my own would have been that same season when I went to a whole bunch of em that year but the first was a trip to West Ham .
Having seen Arsenal take over places like Chelsea,Spurs,QPR ETC , I thought that West Ham would present no problem at all so me and a Pal went in the North Bank at Upton Park ..................mistake..................Big mistake ,Huge in fact !
Could not understand why there only seemed to be about 20/30 Arsenal in the ground when we scored ,all at the very front of the South Stand ,plus 2 in the North Bank aged 13 . If I remember we were losing and then scored 2 second half to win it . Upset the locals no end !

First ever away game was at QPR in a midweek match around 1993, drew 0-0, and I swear there were more away fans than home fans in the ground that night.

First away game outside London ; Lost 2-1 to Leicester at Filbert Street in 1994/95 ish. The team weren't doing particularly well at the time, despite high expectations, and at the end of the game there were calls for the manager to 'get the chequebook out'

Nothing changes, eh?

that was my first European away game, still got the ticket: pic.twitter.com/zfS0wG1R
I remember an all you can eat buffet on the ferry, very rough crossing, most of my mates spewed
the wooden Liege stands were super rickety, every goal that went on I was a bit scared the place would fall down
they had a Brazilian centre back who I funnily enough thought was really good (Andre Cruz)
Ian Selley was excellent that day (was that his first goal for us?)

Also I think there were some Sperz fans in their end (think they were Scottish and had a St Andrews Cross)
as the goals rained in and the Standard Fans got moody they started cheering us on
in the end even the Belgians were abusing the few Spud fans

I had made some stupid Arsenal top hat out of cardboard - every time we scored I slung it miles to celebrate
it would eventually make it's way back and quickly got slung again

think it was Ian Wright's birthday and we were singing HappyBirthday to you...
doubt he was there, great memories

think my first away game was WestHam in the late 80's
can't remember the score (0-0 maybe)
do remember shitting myself as we walked down past the bus garage to get to the away end
didnt ened up being pwoper nawty (or I didnt see it) but there was def an extremely edgy atmosphere

Oh yes they were mental, before the match at least. Put their flags up in the upper tier to our right, but I think they were forced to take it down by some stewards - not sure though.
I remember that Seaman took his time to chat with the fans during the match and someone put a smile on his face  by putting up an inflatable sexdoll on the fence just behind the goal...
