Re: THE GOONERSID BOOK THREAD
Just read a book in five hours. Not bad for a non prolific reader.
Nobody came. Robbie Garner.
Shocking, truly shocking. In the light of what is being played out in the media re Jimmy saVILE.
Prayers for those children that have suffered at the hands of monsters.

Re: THE GOONERSID BOOK THREAD
Ive recently finished the book "The Passage" by Justin Cronin. I thought it was fucking amazing start to finish. Currently reading the second one now. Apparently the rights to transform the book into a film have already been picked up by Ridley Scott, so i'm excited to see what comes of that.

Football
One Night in Turin - Pete Davies (World Cup 1990)
The End - 80 Years of Life on the Terraces - Tom Watt (Arsenal's North Bank)
Triology Footbal Factory - England away - Headhunters - John King (Hooligans)
History/Fiction
The Name of the Rose - Umberto Eco
Foucault's Pendulum - Umberto Eco (read it in German though - difficult enough
)
A Heart so White - Javier Marias
Bio
Don't Sleep, There are Snakes - Life and Language in the Amazonian Jungle - David Everett
Against All Enemies - America's War on Terror - Richard A. Clarke
A Life in Metal - Dave Mustaine
Crime
Would recommend ALL Micheal Connelly books (best to read them in order), most from John Grisham and Chris Carter

Re: THE GOONERSID BOOK THREAD
Just finished reading "Can I give him my eyes". Heartbreaking yet inspiring story of Richard Moore, A Derry man blinded at the age of 10 by a plastic bullet fired from 10 feet away, by a british soldier in a totally unprovoked attack. It is a story of forgiveness on a scale I could not contemplate.
The title of the book coming from the question his devastated father asked the doctors after being told his son was blind.

Two great biographies:
'Going to Sea in a Sieve' by Danny Baker. Can't wait for the next one, as this one was rushed out when he was ill, and
'Who I Am' by Pete Townshend. If you're into The Who, then it's a must read, or if you just like music biogs, give it a go, you won't be disappointed.

Got "Who I Am" for Christmas from my daughters, still only a few chapters in as I've already got one on the go, but really enjoying it.
I am thinking of dedicating my book to my precious wife and calling it "Won't get fooled again"

Re: THE GOONERSID BOOK THREAD
It's lower league stuff, but There or Thereabouts, the Keith Alexander story is a fine read. Written by Rob Bradley, a life-long fan, just your average guy who became Chairman in early 2000 just as Lincoln City were about to go tits up, it takes in Keith's life and his time in football. From playing for Barnet under Barry Fry to his time as manager of Lincoln. His sad fights with illness and his success as a manager, a coach and a fine man.
I am bigging it up but if you like an alternative football read to your whining £100,000 a-week wankers, do give it a try.

Although the cock sucking part is true, I'm sure BG must have put his clothes on whilst angry or in a bit of a bad mood at least a few times in his life.arseofacrow wrote:Mate, I don't think bG cross-dresses. Quality read. Nothing overly fancy or contrived, good action, well written with interesting characters in the main.
